Hi,

There is a news piece in a Bengali daily. Those who can read Bengali, here is the link:

http://bartamanpatrika.com/content/sports.htm

For rest, below is the verbatim translation:

"One air rifle costs 1.2 Lacs. Rifles used for 50 meter or free-rifle costs 2.5 Lacs. These are not manufactured in India and are imported from Germany. For this reason, 5-6 shooters are forced to use one rifle for practice in the state (west bengal) clubs.

On Wednesday, 15 shooters participated in a state tournament at Belgachia (in Kolkata) with 3 rifles. The means are not there but the passion is and hence many were there at this competition. The popularity of shooting sports has increased after Abhinav Bindra's Gold in the 2008 olympics. Hence, more than 300 shooters are participating in this state meet happening at Belgachia."

Sad but true.

Regards
BDG

This is nothing new bro, its the same situation is most of the clubs and range.

I have myself shared a O/U with 4 ppl in a competition, we had to ensure that are our details are different. Luckily we had 2 ppl participating in double trap and 2 in single so the events timing was different.

Thats nothing.. Mizoram Rifle Association has about 4 match grade airrifles with about another half dozen belonging to individuals.. we just concluded Mizoram State Shooting championship with more than 200 participants from all over the state. We also managed to have more than 30 shooters to qualify for the nationals all of whom are first timers to competitive shooting!
