CWG 2010, India's Shooting tally

14 gold, 11 silver and 5 bronze medals
This is better than what we did earlier in Melbourne (27 medals).
So here is the agenda cut out for each and everyone of us.
- Promote our sport whenever and wherever possible.
- Get youngsters and others to join air rifle and airpistol shooting.
- Do not discuss other sports with equal zeal in public and with friends (especially CRICKET).
- India is the second country after Germany to take interest in shooting sports so lets see how we can better or equal that.
Let make our sport popular.
Now is the right time to do it.

If our people can achieve all this desipite polictics, no ranges, import restrictions, non availability of ammo and what not.........imagine what we could do if the scenario was more open? The world could be ours!

That's 36% of All Gold Medals won by India in the Games.
A major chunk .
Looks like Shooting is indeed the main sports.
Could replace Hockey (National Sport) for sure were India was thrashed 8-0 by the Kangaroos.

and if you add the 3 Golds in Archery then it works out to almost half the Gold Medals (45%).

Friends,
One thing that is a no no is to expect the government to help us out everywhere.
I think it has done a lot for us. Getting imported competition grade airguns is easy.
Local makes like IHP are also worth a look.
So lets start helping each other and ourselves.
hvj1 has done a splendid job of sharing essential info on air pistol shooting. Perhaps someone can help us out with 10mtr air rifle shooting tips on similar lines.
Armed with this info we can set about voluntarily teaching the basics at our local ranges.
In any case the agenda needs to be expanded into a credible training programme.
So please chip in as to how to take this forward.
I believe if we have critical mass at the community/town/city level, its only logical that it will expand upwards to the district/state and national levels.
So what say ?
