Renting weapons for Match - options

For the new shooters in the group (like me), one of the biggest barriers to entry in shooting sports (esp the firearm category)is getting your hands on a gun and ammo you can use during the match.

Are there people out there who rent out their weapons and ammo for us beginners for a price?
Please let me know if anyone does rent.

As per my knowledge, no. Match guns are specifically tuned according to the requirements of the owner and the thought itself would be sacrilegious. But, you may check with the range, if they provide guns for the same purpose.

IFG should come up with a solution for this and represent this matter.
New shooters are eager to compete.

I don't think IFG can do much about it. It is a forum for common interest members and has no association or affiliation with NRAI. Instead, what I suggest is you and all other shooters get together and put it up to your state rifle association and from there it goes on to NRAI. It all depends on how much noise one makes.

My 2 cents.

Hi Amer,

Post probably, the Big Bore Nationals will be held in Hyderabad. We are trying our best to convince the NRAI to nominate Hyderabad as the venue for this event this year. Lets see how it goes.

Lets assume that Hyderabad is the venue, then you can borrow the weapon from the rifle association and you dont need to pay anything for the gun. For this, you need to be a member of the RAAP. We are estimating the number of entries for the pre nationals in Hyd to be more than 50 and the number of guns are only 4. This might be a problem but I am sure the much experienced shooters from Hyderabad can help you out in this aspect, provided you are a serious shooter.

You would have to get your own ammo though. As you said, Beg Borrow or Steal! The 165 Gr S&Bs would be a good option.

Cheers

Ashar

I fully encourage, support and thank all those involved in bringing the nationals to Hyderabad.
I know atleast 5 friends of mine who would like to participate in Pre-nationals so 50 should not be a problem. Do we need to register someplace?

Thanks
Ashar

I understand that the effort is underway to bring Nationals to HYD.
All the novice shooters are busy kissing up to those who have weapons....lol....from what i have heard.
Would a membership with RAAP be advisable....and what is the process here Ashar? Please fill me in.
