How old are you? This is to determine your physical fitness regime vis a vis your age.

I turned 41 last November. Used to have a fairly active lifestyle till Nov of 1998 - after which the accident, migration to NJ (and work in NYC) and marriage followed by parenthood in that order took their pound of flesh - err, kept adding their lbs. of flab ! :x Added to that the "old" cause of backache accentuated by sedentary (InfoTech) lifestyle. It's fairly recently that thanks to my schoolmate, Vishwajeet, I have taken to shooting (again) - this time trying to be more modular and disciplined - again, thanks to him and to IFGians like you. :)

We have a common friend in good old Vishwajeet. Now, I wonder if you have asked me for the novice training programme. In the NTP, I have discussed 'heart rate' and its relation to age related physical fitness. Kindly pm me your email id, in case you have not received it.
Regards

Dear hvj1
I do have your NTP (you had emailed me on Dec 9th) - just finding tough (at present) to go through the entire regimen e.g. the gamut of situps, squats and pushups :( So wondering if there's something specific I need to do to tune in my back (forearm strength is no problem, at least from air pistol/ rifle angle). Wonderful to meet up with Vishwajeet's friends - I just had the help from another of his friends, fantumfan2003, in fixing my broken Daisy 856. :D

Alas! Like a bridegroom-to-be, do I wait,
Utterly miserable at my imperfect gait.
Though the Morini hums sweet as honey,
My worth matches her not in terms of money.
From me does the foreign belle stay away,
Letting the Indian IHP hold me in her sway.
Though a bit dour and staid,
And turns my trigger finger all red.
I continue to hold her in my hand
Which after a while trembles like Potter's wand.
Nothing but time do I bide,
With friends like you at my side;
Pointing and guiding towards the X,
Patiently but confidently the hurdles I aim to face !!!

Hey guys im back

My fathers Ca prostate got the better of him in april
And after having to pick and move him around at times my spondylosis also kicked in so dint take part in the matches this year even though I was keeping my group within an inch despite all outside pressure.

Well my father finally made his onward journey on the fifth of jan and now I find that at the age of 55 it is time to reinvent myself and also get back to shooting.

after many months was shooting at a target and keeping well within the black so there is still some hope though I have told vashisht to get a free pistol at the range.

Dunno Hvj1 is 55 years a good age to start this business ?

Any way im back no more lurking

Regards to all my friends

Just to entertain you GunSifu, seeing that your penmanship is on par with your pistol work.

If you shoot 550 at home,
And no one is there to record it,
Does it make a sound?

With apologies to Basho.

Sorry to hear about your father, may his soul rest in peace.

Ragnar Skannagar, was world champion in Free Pistol at the age of 67+. But then he swam and cycled a lot. Since the weight of the Free Pistol is more than that of the air pistol, you will be well advised Doc, to hold the free pistol for 3 seconds with your left hand extended (as if you were a left handed shooter). One set of 5 reps, followed by rest, then repeated. Initially, start with 4 sets, gradually increase it to 12.
This way, your shoulder and back muscles will compensate for the strain on your right hand side, that is if you arre shooting right handed. Any queries, please feel free to ask.
Free Pistol is my favourite event, you will soon know why, once you hit a 10.
Regards

I shot it just before the GVM but I went to pieces in the competition. Slowly limping back to regular practice, imagine the nationals are being held in Delhi and I am sitting this one out.
Well I guess it is a sport and one has to get used to the ups and downs of play. But I'll be back this year, plan is to shoot a good score in the state.

Dear Hemant Sir,

Many thanks for your immensely valuable contributions on pistol shooting at this site. I have been reading your much valued inputs from the time I took up this difficult sport. Sir, I have been practicing air pistol shooting since almost 06 months (Morini 162 EI) but haven't come to any firm stance or shot sequence due to lack of a coach or proper guidance. All I have been doing is reading your notes or other articles for other websites and various other small inputs which I get at range from fellow shooters.

Sir, I have attached the pics of my shots just to request your goodself if you can guide me through the mistakes I have been doing. I would indeed appreciate if you could please spare some of your highly valuable time in guiding me through. I would also request your goodself to please send me your guidance notes, which you may have, for which I shall be ever grateful in life.

Many thanks in advance for your time and effort.

Yours truly,
MTK

Mr. Khan you seem to be shooting pretty well. I am hazarding a guess that if you begin to abort any shots that seem iffy, you will have a tighter group. This is what I still haven't got right, HVJ1 please to excuse my reply if incorrect.

Dear Mr Dev,

Many thanks for the reply, but can you please elaborate on the suggestion you have provided. I am sorry for not being aware of the terminology.
Thanks in advance.

Hello MTK
Kindly go through the lesson on 'Calling'. Adopt the technique then put up your targets for all to see.

Okay HVJI,

Here is something that is confounding the bejesus outa me. I shoot a group deliberately, calling every shot etc. I use the follow thru to figure out where the pellet has gone. Average varies from 88 to 90. Then at the volley number 4, I decide to concentrate on bringing the pistol down slow and squeeze the shot off as I acquire the ideal target picture. I am not thinking much, shooting often with an extra pellet in my left hand. Knock of ten pellets in less than ten minutes, now my group has 7 nines, 2 tens and one 8. Take break for volley 5 (another ten pellets). Shoot the same way and its 7 nines, 3 tens.
Please explain what is going on.

Is this getting dynamic aiming right?

Regards,

Dev
