yo dev. it takes more than a comp failure to get me down. generally feel a bit of gloom after it happens. but dust myself and get up to be ready for another bout. so another year of prac from now on. only this time it felt a bit bad as the first two sets had for the first time gone just as planned. but i guess i have learnt two things. first to do a detailed check prior to the shoot of all the issues associated with the ap. second is to make myself stronger in face of a bad shot. the ppl seeing my shoot felt that two different ppl took the two halves of the shoot. first by a man who has shot earlier and second by a total beginner. when i heard that i really felt embarrassed.it just indicated that the the three bad shots in a row had totally toppled my apple cart. had i held my nerve i would atleast have done better . but seeing the zero totally shattered me.this can not be allowed to happen again. hence one year of hard prac till next raj states to qualify again and restart the campaign for the national qualification.

Unfortunately I withdrew from/ abandoned the match. Had good meeting with you both. The drive back was equally arduous 30 hr for 1497 km. Election time in DL/HR/ RJ did not help much. Felt very tired and fatigue but the drive gave me two valuable opportunities. One, I could think on a lot of issues and streamline my thoughts. Two, proved to me that I still have in me to push up that bar. It was a sort of endurance test and totally served to be independent from the NZ. Now to re-tap into what lies beneath and ...

2. Work on the new grip
3. Start on a fitness regimen - this time not to abandon. Health has started showing graph like Corporate India or rupee fluctuation.
4. Explore alternate events I can try my hand at - .22 in Pistol or Prone - along with AP (Thx Dev - need guidance from y'all)
5. Work on my basics, basics and basics. Try at the bottom - Capt EZ and work the way up.

Respected HVJ1 and other senior shooters..
I am facing an issue with my shooting.Over past few weeks I have gained more in technique but whenever my session goes well(like tight groups in 9 and 10 circle) ...I am not able to maintain the same shooting technique even though I do imagery in between the sessions...How do I solve this??
One thing more,My schedule is like this:
Get up in morning, get to the range (on my terrace) within half hour. I dont do meditation before starting my morning session. Then do some warm up for 2 mins then do 10 mins technique recalling and then its just LIVE FIRING for next 1.5 hour and no dry firing in between. After session, do some 15 min imagery of any specific thing that I learnt in the session. Then whenever i get time during the day, I do 1-2 minute imagery in between.
Then, I evening I do another 1.5 hour session of live firing.
My doubts are is I am doing to much of live firing. I fear that if I dont do live firing, my brain would forget the important aspect of technique that i learnt in previous session. But my performance after a good session always go down in the next session.
I am developing shooter, what should be my strategy in training sessions?? Like I learnt an important aspect of grip handling which has increased gun stability and scores in the morning session. What should I do evening session??

1. Warm up should be at least 30 minutes.One thing more,My schedule is like this:

In Scandinavia, there was a young lad of 16 years, heftly in shoulder and over 6 ft tall. He lived next to a Lumber yard and aspired to be the best Lumber jack in the camp. So one day he walks over to the foremand of the yard, who looks him over and hands him a brand new axe. The novice asks the foreman: How many trees does your best lumber jack cut in a day?
The foreman chews on his tobacco and after spitting sideways says: Why 'bout 12 to 14 trees a day.
Novice smirks and says; Hell I can do more than that.
Then go fer it son, replies the foreman.
Sure enough, at sundown, the kid novice comes back and declares that he has chopped down twenty.
Well, I'll be damned kid! Heres your hundred dollars. (5 dollars a tree)
The kid returns the next day, and the next and the next and the next.....but each day, the number of trees cut, falls down drastically. The second day, he manages to cut only 12, the third 8 and the fourth day he manages only 3..
On the fifth evening, the kid doesnt return, so the foreman a kindly man is worried, so he sets out to locate the kid, who he finds is still hammering away at the only tree he has tackled that morning.
Rest up kid. Yells the foreman. The kid is red in the face and his hands are all bloody with blisters.
Whasssamatter Kid? Asks the foreman, putting his hand on the sagging drooping shoulders of the kid.
Sir? He replies, I have been working so hard since the last few days, but today I cannot manage even one tree. Each day, the number of trees I cut is going down, while I seem to be working harder.
The foreman, takes the axe from the kid's hand, running his thumb on the blade, he shows it to the kid.
Son, if you only took time to sharpen your blade fro a few minutes each day, you would still be earning a hundred dollars each day.
MORAL: Planning for 15 minutes a day before and after each session is the same as sharpening the blade.

Decided to do some serious LF. Tried to "sharpen my blade" - giving due thought to warm up (free hand and hip rotations) and how I shall proceed with the shoot. Slightly apprehensive as was about to shoot after a long time. 30 shots on a single fresh AP card. Used H&N (EE). 10m at home. The target gets placed at slightly higher region that 140cm of height as that's where the stand got fixed. Hope this helps me in the long run to maintain my arm extension as my hand/ SA tends to dip as shoot progresses. Followed 5-shot cycle.
Now the observation,
* 7 shots in WHITE - out of which 3 were misfires. WHY ?
* 4 shots on #7, but a tight group of 7 shots on #8 ring in 7 o'clock.
* A tight grouping of 9 shots between #10 and #10.9 ring but on LHS of center.
* The rest between #8 & #9 rings
Followed by the thoughts -
Q1. Why did most shots land on LHS in spite of clicks ? My thoughts - Posture or clicks ain't working ?
Q2. Why do these misfires haunt & taunt me ? My thoughts - Momentary lapse in concentration after slack has been 'taken' ?
Q3. Why did 4 shots land in white ? They are all in straight vertical line on LHS. My thoughts - Holding too long ?
Q4. Why did that group form along the inner side of #8 ring at SW position ? My thoughts - None
Whatever has happened during last month or two, my forehand strength has decreased and eye-sight and posture deteriorated.
So methinks I need a lot of physical training with a lots of holding and dry fire practice. Plus must use a chair behind and a table in front while practicing at home too.
Q5. After a week of some holding/ dry fire, should I "check out" at the range how the performance reflects ?
Q6. Why does the performance dip after prolonged lapse in practice and minor health fluctuations ?
My thoughts - None for both Q5 and Q6 above.

Much better output yesterday. Went to range. Shot 6 cards with 10 apiece. Used H&N EE pellets. 5/6 showed nice grouping. 70% DS.

I would think that you maybe changing your stance or posture after every group. Purely conjecture, I have found that widening or shortening the foot width will make the group up or down. Are you giving clicks like they say you should? If the group is to the left then give clicks to the left? Another thing I was told was that any side movement is caused by the trigger squeeze. Maybe u would like to keep referring to your diary and the SOA written on it. Are you shooting sets of three or five shots?

I would think that you maybe changing your stance or posture after every group. Purely conjecture, I have found that widening or shortening the foot width will make the group up or down. Are you giving clicks like they say you should? If the group is to the left then give clicks to the left? Another thing I was told was that any side movement is caused by the trigger squeeze. I figure what you say makes sense. I was re-establishing the posture after every shot since (at home) I have to take a step or two to pick up every pellet. Plus the target is placed slightly higher than 140cm. Yes I did give the clicks but that didn't work. However, at the range yesterday, I seem to get the shots centralized after the clicks. I used to shoot in a 5 shot cycle but now have changed to 3+2 shot cycle since these days the forearm seems to tire out faster. Thank you very much for the pointers.
