Doing 40-50 one handed push ups, keeping time with the 'Eye of the Tiger' theme from Rocky! :D

Hi hvji,
I am taking each day at a time, LISTENING to my body, rather than ploughing on the way I used to when I was 25.
> How profound my friend - You couldn't have put it better :D
> Believe me - I too listen to my body & there are times when 'I can wish an ache / pain away' just by responding to its message. I do this by regulating my breathing (including by holding it for a while) and stretching or contracting the affected part. Eg. If the ache is in my back, knee or calf I can feel the ache / pain slowly descending and letting itself out through the tips pf my toes!
> EYE of the TIGER....
So many times it happens too fast
You trade your passion for glory,

Not losing grip on the dreams of the past
You must fight just to keep them alive,

It's in the eye of the tiger
Lies the thrill of the fight,

Rising to the challenge of our rivals far & near
To the last known survivor,

As he stalks his prey in the night
He's watching us all with the
Eye of the tiger!

Hi hvj1,
> I am happy, pleased & feel encouraged to note your dedication to physical fitness.
> Hanging stretches the muscles, tendons, cartileges & the spine which cumulatively enhance coordinated body mobility.
> You may confine the 'push-ups' to 12reps - But can increase the no. of sets.
> I recall my erstwhile PT Guru Sri. Makharand Talwalkar - Boy don't run after 'Muscle Mass' instead go for 'Muscle Definition'....
Muscle mass will restrict your mobility & fluidity of movement - Whereas Muscle Definition will accelerate your physical response!

Thanks Brihaji,

My object in weight training is to develop the muscle strength, to shoot 120 shots in the FP event in one trg. session. That is my goal. I know i can shoot 500/600 a month from now, without stretching myself too much. But my trg. goals are aimed far higher than that. In fact I really dont give a rats a@#e about the score! :D

It is my own pleasure in the pursuit of personal physical and mental fitness reqd to shoot that much, which eggs me on. I last shot a free pistol match in 1998! Yes fifteen years ago, Since then a lot of water has flown down the Ganges! I think I can shoot far better than before and I am itching to start shooting. :D

Your advice on physical fitness is noted, please do chip in whenever possible. It is useful to me.

Thanks once again.

Dear Brihji and hvj1 guruji,
Thank you very much for the insight into finer points of workout regimes. Though I am a far cry from active practice and a couch "Arnie", I really appreciate proactive inputs for public benefit.

Diary:

Only light stretching today, the upper body seems to have 'jammed'. I think medium stretching should do the trick.

AGN.
You are most welcome. Writing down each day, is positive affirmation which works both for the reader as well as the writer! :D

You guys have put me in a world of hurt.
Began doing some push ups, got over the initial soreness.
As a few days went by I forgot that it had been years since I had done em.
So one evening did three sets of twenty with a few minute gaps in between.
All was good till the next day, when all of the shoulder and upper back jammed tight.
Can jog 2.4 km in twenty two minutes.
Can do skipping also for twenty minutes.
But the jammed shoulders and back 'earned me a week off'.
So now it is eye of the pussycat and not tiger cause my body screams surrender while the mind goes never.
Talk about being split up. ;-)

You (Brihaji and Guruji) are going to be the death of me. ;-)

As an example of overcoming adversity, Karoly Takacs has few peers. He was part of Hungary’s world champion pistol-shooting team in 1938, when an army grenade exploded, crippling his right hand. Ten years later, having taught himself to shoot with his left, he won two gold medals in the rapid-fire class.

Diary :

1.Did cycling 12 kms.
2.Pullups 5
3.Some windmilling exercises.

To my surprise, stamina has really improved.Took just one break in an entire match of 40 shots + 10 sighting shots(took the break after 15 match shots and shot nonstop thereafter). I just didn't felt the need for a break which I take after 10 shots.

Is it advisable to shoot continously? I have noticed that I shoot much better after some 30 shots or so in practice.

Regards,

The death of old you and the re-birth of a whole new you. :-)
Like the phoenix, may you rise from the ashes of past mistakes, into a flaming and brilliant future.

Pussy Cat Pussy Cat - where have you been ?
Shedding off some flab, so muscles meet the skin.

Pussy Cat Pussy Cat - what did you do there ?
Skipping and jogging and pushing up the floor.

Pussy Cat Pussy Cat - why is your body sore ?
Preparing and practicing but don't give a rat's a$$ about the score.

Pussy Cat Pussy Cat - why is your eye larger ?
In process of making it 'The Eye of the Tiger'.

Now if only my fingers would squeeze the trigger as efficiently as they type...

It is great to see people waking up again, walking and jogging and cycling and doing push-ups and ..... Thanks for your regular dose Guruji.

I am silent for the time being because I am working regularly... Just one point; yesterday, I shot 180 shots with the FP in 3 hours and 15 minutes with a lot of breaks in between. The work was concentrated on the regularity of gripping*. 5 SHOT CYCLES at one go. I thought that I will be knocked out totally after that but I am fine today, no problems anywhere whatsoever. I believe that my physical fitness level is in better order now.

*I had overworked my grip and the Natural alignment has changed to my utter dismay. I have been again modifying it to bring back to shape. It was difficult and it took me 4 sessions of shooting and 4 weeks almost to get it back to shape. The positive thing is that I am learning the finer aspects of a pistol grip.

I will be off for holidays with family from tomorrow onwards. So there will be a pause in all training sessions for 9 days.

Enjoy your physical training! Do it regularly and someday you will feel that it is a pleasure and you are yearning for it :D . I feel already that I will really miss my jogging sessions during the next 9 days :(

best regards

ROTFL

Dev,
You off all people know the terrible shape of my arm, we have discussed it on the phone. But I am 'inching' along in my exercise schedule. But I am happy to tell you, that my arm has imprved by at least 15%. And that is heartening for me. The moral of the story is, take it easy,Policy! :D

Major,
Heartening to see the level of improvement in your stamina. if you are comfortable and it does not affect your performance adversely, then by all means go ahead and shoot continously. But lengthen the number of shots gradually.
