Vikram,

To become a renowned shot, one must achieve MQS (minimum qualifying score) in Nationals.

Well, this (State level competition) is the first step towards that. The way it works is:

1. You shoot a State level competition OR separately held trial (depends from state to state), your score 'qualifies' you to participate at zonal (North/ South/ East etc.) or Pre-Nationals (GV Mavalankar).
2. You shoot at a zonal competition and/ or the Pre-Nationals, your score here 'qualifies' you to participate in the Nationals
3. You shoot at the Nationals - your score here determines whether or not you are counted as a 'renown shot'. The shooters who shoot the Minimum Qualifying Score (MQS) or higher at the nationals are categorised as 'renown shots' for that year. One must 'renew' one's 'renown shot' status each year by participating in the Nationals and shooting the MQS or more.

NRAI has specific qualifying scores for each discipline (Skeet, Trap, Standard Pistol, etc.), for each category (Men/ Women/ Junior Men etc.) and at each level (State/ Zonal/ Nationals).

Congratulations Safarigent!
If this is what you did instead of coming to the IFG meet, it was certainly worth your time. :D

Thank you all.
It was olympic skeet.
Shot a piddling score of 99/125.
Not happy with that at all.
Xltarget: what i did by not coming there was the following:
Highest scorer at up state shooting championship at 41/50.
Bronze medallist at 2 gun for glory tournament at 35/50. :(
Gold medal at delhi state shooting championship at 99/125

I would not break my word to you for any flimsy reason.

But as they said.... Delhi door ast.
Its a long way to go.
My aim this year is to shoot 105/125 consistently at least.
Next year, onto better and bigger things.
:D
Anupam sir: absolutely looking forward to seeing you there.
New snap coming soon. :)
To Excellence through Diligence.

Safarigent: I see that your careful and thoughtful touch on line is a quality that extends from your typing fingers to your trigger finger, and that hitting the mark is a common result in both cases! Congratulations on your victory!

But Sir How does a New Shooter ENTER in a State level competition?
Who and How does One Qualify to atleast be allowed to Participate.
For Example If One is shooting a desired score to Participate in the Competition How does HE prove it and How? ? ?
If it is a 50 meter or a 300 meter sport then how does one go ahead ? ? ?
