Dear dev, I could almost visualize and experience what all you went through. Forgive me for saying this, but "I enjoyed your write-up." On a more sober note, Boy ! What a nightmare!!! Never mind, just glad that you will show up at the GVM - hope to say "Yo Whazzup" to you in person then. Good luck for the AP practice.

BTW, One, is the range reachable by the Delhi metro connection ? Two, Do they allow us to carry the AP on the metro ?

My heartiest congratulations to you for your feat in FP in the Delhi Sates Championships. I am still fighting with the FP .
Here in France it is the season of 10m only due to cold weather settling in. The outdoor season will start in spring. So, I have kept the FP aside since 2 months now.

Dear dev,
I join everyone else to admire your nice short story.
I had once participated in the WB states and the GVM in Asansol in 2009 (during the period when I shifted to India briefly for 7 months along with my family). At that time, my 4 yr old son, my 3 months old daughter and my wife stayed in the hotel when I went to shoot. It was kind of impossible for me to keep the concentration on the match. I kept on thinking about my wife with two children, one asking when the father would return and the other keeping on crying all the time . The disaster was evident and it happened accordingly.
To resume, I find that if you have the image of your small child crying at the back of your head, it is very very difficult to erase it and concentrate on something else.

Get the ball rolling in the GVM and NZ.

Thanks guys, specially Jitu. Mr.Bhagat is leagues and leagues ahead, his craft is incredible. But I must add that I am guilty of an oversight. They say there are guys who will give the shirt off their back for you. But Olly volunteered his trousers and even his son's track pants. But jealousy can be very blinding and I am still totally green.

A big round of applause to Olly who shot with a borrowed pistol and KF rounds , what the heck make that master shot pellets at 50 m.

Wish I had the ability, he had been missing the medal by a whisker in the last few comps, so here's to you buddy. You deserve even more. For me its back to the drawing board.

Hi everyone,

Played my first official match today, in the Haryana Inter District Shooting Competition. Qualification score to play in the state competition was 200/400. I scored 333/400 with series of 81,83,86,83. Could not utilize the sighter shots properly and ended up giving clicks to my Pardini kid till the last shot. Probably, I had taken too much pressure on me to score that elusive score of 345 for playing GVM. I will now play the Haryana state on Saturday and hopefully everything goes well that day.

Please plan out your day from beforehand right from the wake-up time, the time of departure from home, the duration, arrival, registration, target collection, warm-up etc and what you will do till the end of the match. Write down step by step in your diary. STICK to what you plan without any deviations unless there is an emergency. For the match part, keep a reminder chit (with a few essential points noted) in front of you on the table. Look at at it before every shot do accordingly. During the match, with tension and match pressure, one tends to forget the basics and more importantly to apply the basics. This reminder chit will help to bring back the mind on track.
Please do a post match analysis comparing to what you had planned and what you would have done really. The drawbacks are to be corrected in the next match.

333/400 was not a bad beginning really. Please do not think about the MQS. Aim for better quality work during the match .

best of luck for the states on sat. remember the aamir dialogue from 3 idiots. pursue excellence, kaamyabi jhak marke piche lagegi. even in the comp try to improve your SA% and the score will auto improve. thx to the advice of the gurujan i have tried this in the raj state and have been able to qualify for the gvm . so can you
