Hi,

My father has a .38 bore Webley & Scott revolver since the last 20+ odd years(approx.). I would like to get a licence of the same bore and get the above mentioned revolver transfered on the same? Is it possible?
Is the .38 bore Webley & Scott revolver a PB?

The .38 Bore you mention is a "Prohibited Bore" namely the .38 S&W or .38-200 in use by our armed forces. While it is possible for you to get a PB license for it under the "family heirloom" category, one of the requirements is that your father must have owned it for at least 25 years(I think) before he can transfer it to you.
Do remember that, while, even if you qualify under this category, the proposed changes in the new Arms policy may allow only 30 cartridges per year as ammunition quota. Secondly, selling it at a later date may be a difficult proposition (as most prefer NP Bore) and the selling price will be far less than that of a NP Bore. If for some reason, you decide to sell it at a later date, your PB License stands cancelled automatically without the option of a replacement PB firearm(I think).
