4th firearm (22lr) on a licence....

I am told that a member of the NRAI, India is allowed to have a 22lr rifle on his licence as his 4th firearm, the first three being a rifle, shotgun & handgun.
If this is true, where can I get the govt notification for this rule.

The link earlier forwarded to Mack The Knife actually contains the
interpretation of that particular provision contained in Arms Act.
The Arms Act ( bare act ) does not limit the no of rifles. It actually says that the provisions of sub section 2 (
no person, other than a person referred to in sub-section (3), shall acquire, have in his possession to carry, at any time, more than three firearms)
And the
sub- section 3 states ..
Nothing contained in sub-section (2) shall apply to any dealer in firearms or to any member of a rifle club or rifle association licensed or recognised by the Central Government using a point 22 bore rifle or an air rifle for target practice
So the possibility of owning more than one 0.22 rifle exists
As I interpret it, the no(s) of 0.22 bore rifles owned by members of ... are outside the scope of Sub Section 2 of Arms Act.
Here is the link from Vakil No.1

Many of my father's friends have 4 arms licenses for years and nobody has ever questioned them and one of them is a retiered armyman,it helps that in my place offices are not computrised so it is diffcult to find out how many licences a person owns.
As for ammunition many have it as Unlimited written on there license. It all depneds on your contacts and ststus.

As I gather the act says 3 firearms.
Does it have to be a pistol/revolver,a rifle & a shotgun or any other permutation is also permissible ?
I'd appreciate if u guys could sort this one out.
Thx.
25 .22 rounds

Hi sujay,
I had the same problem till some years ago I gathered courage and faced the acp licensing. I think the delhi police was in a 'don't bash everyone on the head as they walk in mode' and over tea and biscuits she agreed to increase my license to 500/250. All I had to do was show her that I belonged to a rifle club, I belonged to one for a while.
So ever since I have had the abilty to buy five packs of ammo at a go. But since they go stale I noramlly buy just one or two at a go.
So try meeting your ACP licensing and you may be pleasantly surprised.
Regards,
Dev

Does it have to be a pistol/revolver,a rifle & a shotgun or any other permutation is also permissible
A friend of mine who takes part in ISSF pistol matches told the officials concerned that he needed 3 different pistol for the ISSF pistol events.
First question was why cant all the events be shot by one pistol
. He was prepared for such a question & showed photographs or a Gehmann catalogue of different pistol & the ISSF rules. He got his 3 handguns, .32 & 22lr on his licence without a problem.
