is cuting of 12 bore gun barel is legal ?
if it is how much is the smallest limit of barrel in punjab ?
is modifing a licensed weapon is leagal in punjab ?
i have a modern over under 12 bore gun can i do some modifing my self is it legal ?
can some one tell me about some good gunsmiths near bathinda ?
help me guys ?

Yes,if done by a person licensed to convert,shorten a firearm

It can't be shorter than 20" and this is applicable through out India

You should keep in mind that you would lose the chokes.Also,the pattern would not only open up but migh become completely useless for any and all purposes.Do it in increments of 1/2" shooting in between to find out how it patterns.The pattern would also vary depending upon the cartridge being used.

what about inserting choke tubes- i was keen for one in my BSA vintage( 1911) shotgun

No Arms dealer or a gunsmith can legally convert a weapon,Ordi Factory at Jabalpur is the only agency authorised to do so,u will loose the choking if you saw of the barrel and external chokes have to be screwed in the barrel otherwise the will fly off when you fire.Ther is a GUY by the name of JEET in Bhatinda,he is a very good gunsmith

i have moden's o/u with 28'' barel & basic butt.
i wana make it 22'' & hockey butt.

It is your shotgun and you can do what ever modifications you want , but according to me it would be spoiling the O/U both performance wise and aesthetically .

changing orignal barrel length of any gun in India is illegal (may be licenced gun smith or owner)Law is law ,but things are happen around us.

Hi Sniper i am keen only for a mod job in india- i mean inserting choke tubes here.can my bsa shotgun be given such a treatment.

Andy It can be done but legally im not sure if that is allowed.

Sat Sri Akal!!! Dont spoil your gun. You will loose the choke and wont be able to aim at anything with a hockey butt. I have a modern as well. Instead, go to Jeet mistry and tell him to try to install ejectors and chrome the receiver of the gun. Engrave your name etc on it. Get some nice teak or walnut and make a new stock etc.
The above mentioned things should keep you busy enough and beautify your gun as well. Buy a handgun if you feel the need to carry a firearm.

First of all i am confused that is shorten of barrel is legal or not ?
Secondly a gun smith in bathinda not jeet ji have shown me modern over under with 22 inches barel and hockey but it looks great.
he have done this modification for someone else. he have done 28'' to 22'' and basic but to hockey.
he says it does not effect to much I am going to check the performance of both rifles.
and going to post some pictures soon

For those who say that this is illegal and can't be done under the Arms Act

"Sec 21.Conversion,repair,test,sale,etc.

Sub Sec 2(a) A license in Form XI shall not entitle the dealer to shorten a firearm.....unless he has a license in Form IX showing specifically that he is permitted to shorten a firearm...

(b) Under no circumstances shall a dealer shorten the barrel of a rifle or smooth bore gun so that the resultant length becomes less than 20 inches."

It is a shotgun and not a rifle.A rifle would have rifling.A shotgun has a smooth bore.
