Youths fire in air, one arrested

Panic was created among Sector 38-D residents here today when two boys in a Honda City car (CH-03-R-5543) allegedly fired two rounds in the air and fled. The incident came to light around 10 pm when some persons, who were having evening walk, called up the police about the incident.
The police traced the number of the car and found it to be of Vishal Aggarwal, a resident of 641, sector 16, who owns a service station and a pet shop in the sector. The car has been registered in his wife’s name.
He was nabbed by the team comprising CIA in charge Prem Kumar, SHO Janak Rana, additional SHO Hukam Chand and SI Ram Rattan from his house at Sector 16.
“We nabbed Vishal who was in an inebriated state. The rounds seemed to have been fired from an air gun. We searched his car and seized a glass of liquor, water bottle and quarter of liquor.”
The car also had identification sticker stating Press but the validity had expired long ago. Investigations are going on to nab the other accused,” said Janak Rana.
However, Vishal’s father KK Aggarwal denied having any such gun and could not throw much light on the incident. “Vishal had gone to Panchkula and the moment he stepped in home, the police came looking for him.”

The local police has recovered the pistol, allegedly used to fire two rounds in air in Sector 38-D market yesterday, from accused Vishal Aggarwal’s servant.
Accoring to sources, the police recovered the weapon from Kala, servant of the accused, Vishal Aggarwal, during late night raids.
The police said the weapon would be sent for examination to the Central Forensic Sciences Laboratory (CFSL).
Meanwhile, Aggarwal was today produced before a local court, which remanded him to judicial custody.
The SHO of the Sector 39 police station inspector Janak Rana told TNS that it was a German-made pistol. The shell recovered from the scene of the crime and the weapon would be sent for examination to the CFSL to ascertain the claims of Aggarwal that it was a toy pistol.
DSP (South) Jaswant Singh said the weapon appeared to be a real one, but they would seek opinion of the ballistic experts to rule out any doubts and to ascertain the claims of Aggarwal.
Equipped with a magazine, it appeared to be an expensive and sophisticated weapon. Moreover, it would also be confirmed whether the shell recovered from the spot were fired from the same pistol, he added.
The DSP said the license was not required for keeping a toy weapon or an air gun. Thus, the police had only imposed Section 336 (endangering life) of the Indian Penal Code, and the Arms Act would only be invoked if the examination proves that it was a real weapon.
About the role of the servant, the SHO said: “So far, nothing incriminating had come out against him. Though the weapon was recovered from Kala, he told the police that Vishal had given it to him and he had nothing to do with it.”
The police had arrested Aggarwal after he allegedly fired two rounds in air under the influence of liquor and sped away from the market in his Honda City car (CH-03-R-5543). The police tracked down his car through the registration number, which was noted down by some passers-by.
