Dear all,

I am new to shooting and am right now shooting in the 10m air pistol event competitively.
I wouid also like to shoot in the .22 and .38 events and was therefore wondering that what is the minimum age for obtaining an arms licence in India, specifically Delhi. Also please let me know if an underage person can practice shooting on someone elses (licenced) person's weapons.

Also, since the tughlakabad range is closed till 2010 is there any other range in Delhi where one can shoot
1. Air Pistols
2. .22 & .38 calibre pistols
3. Shotguns (trap)

Thank You all for your help
-Shivam

Min. age for an arms license is the same through out India. It's 21.However in case of "Junior Target Shooter" it is 16 years.

"Junior Target Shooter" means a person who has completed the age of sixteen years but is below the age of 21 years and has taken part in at least one State Level,Zonal level or National Level Shooting Competition recognised by National Rifle Association[Notification No. 667(E) 12 Sept. 1985]

What is a '.38 event'?
Also please let me know if an underage person can practice shooting on someone elses (licenced) person's weapons.
Yes, but in the licensees presence

By .38 event I guess he means 25m centrefire pistol, people usually use .32 wadcutters for that event (due to lower recoil), but AFAIK you can use pretty much any centrefire pistol cartridge, like the .38, 9mm etc.

Cheers!

yup exactly ;) though I figured it was .38 as a friend of mine uses it.
