Fist, condolences from the USA to you in India for the terrible attack and our hearts are with you.

This attack has raised some questions about permits or licenses in Mumbai. Is it easy to get one in Mumbai that allows the carry of a handgun, and if so, how common is it there?

This is one of the worst attacks in Mumbai.

In India only gun license is required and it permits Conceal and carry. On this forum you can read up on travails and efforts for securing this license and then gun and ammo cost are out of control, in nutshell not within common persons reach.

Those who hurled the grenades and used the AK 47s were of course not valid lisense holders, but terrorists who get in guns across the border.
Its not very easy for civilians to get permits and way to costly for the common man to carry arms...
Its the blokes who go thru the ilegal way, who get easier access!
.. What happened in Mumbai is another horrible incident, and hope and pray all this ends... There is no reason behind any of these... I mean, a few blasts will not get a great big country on its knees. There is no point in creating havoc and making lives miserable.... Who would ever think they would be 'accepted' for such acts!!!
