How to export Sporting Guns to India, my friend is shooter, he is in India wants to take a gun from USA to India. How to do this?

Is he a renowned shooter or someone who is transferring residence? No other way to do it if it is a firearm.

If he is taking part in a competition in India then he can carry the weapon to India.
The only other way is when a permanent resident of the US shifts to India then he can bring the weapon with his other belongings.
