Well our indian arms act says that .22 bore semi auto rimfire rifles fall under permissible category. Does it include all types of .22 rimfire? Like 22 LR, 22 Magnum, 22 Winchester? Or just a particular cartridge like 22 LR?

Yes all are permissible, apart from 9mm luger , 9mm parabellum.
And some revolver bores given in the act .
Rest everything is permissible.

It's very clearly mentioned .22 rimfire. That means .22 LR, 22 magnum, 22 Winchester etc.

Interesting to see a reference to .22 Win. I believe it died a natural death with the advent of faster and more efficient powders around WW2, which were introduced in the .22 LR, increasing its range and killing power.
