If the new proposed arms amendment as it is becomes law then what happens to the owners of 0.22 cal air guns ?. Do they automatically get a license for the same?. If not would they be confiscated ?

Re: New Arms Act and Airguns.
I am also super curious about this. Short of going to a police station (which I would like to avoid), I can't find any information on what to do with my 0.22 air rifle. Does it need to be surrendered pending approval of license application? Is it classified as a weapon at par with "proper" guns?
I do hope someone posts some info on this soon.

Re: New Arms Act and Airguns.
Dear GNV and madzaxmax,
I have asked the same questions at my local police station and also to one of my friend who BTY is a SDM. in Return what they told me is amazing. Though I have already mentioned these on another thread but still I am re station these points.
For Banning on Air Guns of .22 and Above I speak to one of my Friend who is SDM in Jharkhand and Also my local Police station in charge. they both said the following things.
1. The new Amendment in policy is not clearly notified to all the concerned officials.
2. what will be the further process of issuing Licence and who can apply for it is yet not clarified to them.
3. If it is for sports purpose then is there any exemption ??
4. If this is really going to happen then there will be huge stockpile of .22 AR in every town. how to recover them.
5. As per the amendment the all .22 Ar is now illegally possessed and their owner is guilty under Arms Act for keeping a illegal weapon. what Action the Govt. is taking in this matter.
6. Govt. has yet not notified to Public that they have made this changes in policy and all the people having .22 Ar need to deposit them to near by police station till the time they acquire a Arms Licence.
7. If any one caught with a AR then How the Police will frame the charge. till now the Law is against fire arms and not the Air pressure operated weapons.
8. My local police in charge said that its a madness if they need to go and recover .22 AR from all the localities as most of the fermers keep one or two to do pest control.
9. one more possibility they said that as example Arunachal pradesh and other eastern provinces, many of the tribes has a tradition to keep fire arms with them. most of them are muzzle loaders. Local DM usually issue Arms Licence to them as per the power given to them under some act for protecting and developing Tribal culture and heritage.
here also a chance that the present holders will be issued with Specific AR Licence.
If the police and the Top level Govt. Officials have so much confusion then its clearly understood that what will happen to the general Tax paying public.
I am having 5 Air Rifle, all of them are .22. and approx 4000 Pellets, if this rule come in effect in reality, I am worried that cops will book me for keeping multiple illegal weapon and a large no of Amo.
Regards
