Missing licensed weapon

Post by vishrut1104 » Fri Oct 18, 2013 11:46 pm

Hi,

My father had a licensed .32 bore pistol. He passed away just 10 days ago so we searched for the weapon. Since the elections are due in Rajasthan we will have to submit the weapon to the police. When we were searching for the weapon, we found that the license got expired in December 2012 and the pistol is missing. We have searched for it everywhere, we even asked some of his close associates and friends who might have had some information but nothing. Now we are clueless about what to do. Can anyone help??

Did you father deposit it with the police or an arms dealer? The licensing authority has a list of all the weapons deposited in the district and might be able to help you there.

Vishrut,

My condolences to you and your family. Have you inspected the license to see if it has details of the pistol being deposited with an arms dealer or the police? The best course of action is to get in touch with a lawyer and submit a missing pistol report to the police.

Mr. vishrut1104,
Sincere condolences. Regarding the missing weapon, Please see that there is no mischief or insider jobs.In another family, one of the siblings wanted to inherit their gran-dads weapon and he hid it. Please get your dad's licence book or if that is also missing, go to the DC arms branch and go through the arms licence register and get all details. Then make a request announcement to all your family members and if everybody is ignorant of its whereabouts, then straightaway file a police complaint. This will keep your head free. Then go to all licenced depositories in your area and check for any deposit of your dads gun.

Has your father left a will? Is the weapon mentioned in the will? A police complaint will have to be registered.
