i have one bereta .22 pistol and hellis dbbl , having life member in rifle club in tamilnadu is their any law or arms act rules says that have to go to station with weapon and make entry in the licence book as checked or verifed by inspector of police or by sub inspector.

At the time of renewal of the license they will check the firearms. That way they insure that you have the arms that are mentioned on your license.

There is no rule under the ARMS ACT that you should even register your weapon or licence at the police station.It is their duty to keep tab of all the licensed weapons under their jurisdiction. They are duty bound to visit and inspect the firearms periodically once or twice a year.

Just Now i returned from the Police Station after my License is checked by the Inspector.
In our city and local,this formality is done by Quarterly.

Some Inspectors insisted to bring the weapon and Some also verified the cartridges that are entered in the License Book,also insisted to account the empties properly and the empties&lives must be shown to them at the time of inspection.

I simply said the procedures but it takes two or three days,four to five times goes to the station and at-least ten phone calls.

All are tolerated for one thing that we loved....

Can anyone please enlighten me with specific Sections of Arms Act or its Rules that empowers the police to harass the arms license holders every quarterly/twice or annually?

Since you tolerate this nonsense and in fact are happy to take this s**t from the police,they will shovel more s**t your way.There is no requirement under the Arms Act or Rules to register yourself with the police.Police Rules do require the SHO to maintain a list of all arms license holders living within his jurisdiction.That is his headache and not yours.

yes we are harassed by the police to produce our licence before them.today i had been to the station and produced my licence.my pistol licence was expired and i had applied for renewal promptly.so the inspector asked me to deposit my gun.i refused and gave details of my application for renewal.the inspector said he will consult the issue with higher official and get back to me.
but what ever they decide i am not going to surrender my pistol,if need be i will move the court.
as winnie and goodboy_mentor said there is no law asking licencee to produce them in police station.
just plain harassement.

Why not send an RTI to the Department and ask under which act are they summoning you to the station...
