Manoj,

Welcome to the board!

You can apply for a license in Delhi. Head over to http://delhipolicelicensing.gov.in/arms ... m#section1 and see what all is required. Your 'reason' for applying will be 'inheritance'. Once approved, You can transfer your Nanaji's gun to your license.

Do let us know if you need anything else.

Regards

Thank you inplainsight ji
I heard from many that it is too difficult to get an arm licence in Delhi, i just finished my studies and join my father's business so i don't have an ITR, or salary slip as mentioned in form. I am from upper middle class family, is there any problem if not having a big amount of bank balance for applying arm license also i heard that if Delhi's authority cancel your application then you are not eligible again. My question is that can i apply now or should i wait for some time, i do not want to loose that gun.

Manoj,

ITR/Bank balance/property have nothing to do with your right to self defense. Also, if they reject you they need to have a valid ground, under Section 14 of the Arms Act.

Also, being rejected does not mean that you are barred from applying again.

The point is, you will have to fight for this. Only you can decide whether you do it now or a few years from now.

Good Luck

What inplainsight has mentioned is absolutely true, there is no easy way out, you will have to fight it out.
I would recommend that you first try getting some membership, like that of the Karni Singh Shooting range and Delhi Rifle Association, these things make you license of sport category lil easy.
