Apply to your LA for extension of PP. They'll probably give you another 6 months. If you have doubts, 'cover' your license with a cheap weapon, and then at a later date apply to change your weapon.
Generally the LA will not grant you more than two extensions.

Your license is for what type of weapon? One month or latest 15 days before expiry would be a good time to apply.
But frankly, you are just killing time. If you really wanted to purchase a weapon of your choice, you could have done it immediately after the license was issued to you. Basically, it seems you have not done your homework. Also, I suppose your license would have a geographical limitation of D & NH and I presume that there wouldn't be very many dealers there. Therefore, you will require a transport license and a NOC from the place you purchase your weapon. Now all that takes time in our great bureaucratic country. All this of course, has to be done within the purchase period.
Therefore, my suggestion to you is first 'cover' your license, and then at a later date, purchase the actual weapon you want. Within a month this is quite possible.

Karmveer i applied for extension immediately after the validity (three months for purchase) expired and extension was for three more months. Procedure might vary but in Uttrakand its application in plain paper which is to be submitted with license. The extended period is mentioned on License & is endoresed. Its a procedural in nature.

Katana, I think I read somewhere on the forum that Karmveer has a handgun license and has applied for an IOF revolver from the factory, That could be the reason he needs an extension.
Biren, stop procrastinating and diverting funds to more 'sensible' areas. It's high time you get what you want

In that case, all Karmveer needs to do is submit a copy of the letter from IOF/OFB specifying the time he has been allotted to purchase his revolver, with the application for PP extension. No great shakes in that.

Karmveer, Katana's given you the advice already. It's a very straightforward process. Licensing authorities do it all the time since almost all ordnance factories have delivery period longer than the PP.

Karmveer, just one more suggestion, when u ask a question give as much information as possible. It'll help members give you a more comprehensive advice. Points like when your pp expires, your expected delivery date of the iof rev etc would have helped. In some cases pp is not easily extended and advice could vary.
Good luck.

Karamveer,
I'm pretty confident that you will get your revolver before the 17th of July.
If you don't, then you should request an extension of PP based on the fact that the Revolver has been booked by you and that you are waiting to take delivery.
