Gentlemen,

My brother in law who is residing in US for past 12-13 years, was discussing with me that he has plans to come back to India, so he want to buy a Glock 23- 40 auto there and post one year bring it to India.

Seeking your advice in three points:

1. Is it possible.
2. Is .40 cal NPB in India
3. Is the .40 cal ammo for Glock auto available in India.

Please comment.

Cheers......

1. Yes, On TR
2. Yes,
3. Possibly

My advise would be to pick up a either a glock .357 Sig barrel, and mags, along with it. I believe they even sell .22LR conversion kits for these...

The .22 LR conversion kit would definitely be a good deal.

The .357 SIG barrel would be fine but you're not going to get .357 SIG ammo in India. It is hard enough to find here in the states.
Please keep in mind that the .357 SIG cartridge bears no relation to the .357 Magnum cartridge.
You would not need different mags as .357 SIG is just a necked down .40 S&W and it will fit in the same magazine.
BTW, the .357 SIG cartridge is a cartridge with a lot of snort. Smoke, flame, noise and muzzle energy are hallmarks of the .357 SIG.

Also keep in mind that he needs to have a pistol license in India. If not, customs will hold it till he does get one.

Also, imho, he will not need a normal entry for npb handgun but one for npb handgun with spare barrel. Something which might prove troublesome

Thanks XL_target, yes, is will get the handgun license in India before bringing it on TR.

What about availability of 0.40 ammo in India.

It is now confirmed the cal is NPB in India.

Cheers...
