it is most difficult of jobs to get an arms licence in a country like india. Licences are sanctioned only after threat perception report is cleared from police department. At last one finally manages to get an arms licence because after every clear report an applicant is found to be an honest citizen with character.
But during election time govt does not trust the same citizen who was certified to hold good character and entrusted to hold a firearm.
All licence holders are forced to deposit their weapons with police or arms and ammunition dealers. What happens to threat perception on the licence holders is anyones guess. Who is responsible if some mishap happens with licenced weapon holder because his weapon is now deposited with police and his attackers will still have a weapon which is mostly illegal.
This time in HP, polling was conducted on 4th nov, but results will be declared on 20th dec. For almost 2 months the weapons will be kept deposited.
It is very clear from all surveys that very few licenced weapons are used in crime, but law still runs after honest people. Unlicenced weapons are not deposited by bad elements.
Results are locked in ballet boxes in high security but citizens weapons need to be kept deposited for 2 more months to keep whose insecurity secure god knows.
Agriculturists cannot protect their crops or cattle, jewellers cannot protect their shops, guards cannot protect societies, citizens cannot protect life and property because their licenced weapon is considered a threat to law and order situation of the district. Arms and ammunition dealers are made to sit at home, hoping their names are registered with gurudwara's for free food for 2 months.
If Guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns!!

Re: anti licenced gun policy in india
yes, we are under the merciless law, looked upon like a criminal.we can't do anything about it.maybe someday if a sensible home minister feels the same as us,things might change.
or if a mla or mp gets killed during election when his weapon is deposited, they MAY realise the stupidity.
