NEW DELHI:A man travelling on the Delhi-bound Patna Rajdhani was arrested from Mughalsarai for misbehaving with two sisters who were travelling in the same coach. The Railway Protection Force, which carried out the arrest before handing him over to the Uttar Pradesh GRP said the accused was in an inebriated condition.
An air gun has also been confiscated from the accused identified as Suraj Kumar, a resident of Delhi.
Sources said they are checking whether the accused had declared to railway cops in Patna that he was carrying a gun with him.

It’s good that accused got arrested for his behavior … but while reading this I had a question ….
Is it mandatory to give any kind of declaration to GRP while carrying firearms (assuming you have a valid license for that area) or air guns on train?

Earlier there was no need to declare, since the installation of new security features such as metal detectors, and frisking and baggage checking it has become a new regulation, I was told, by a Railway Police constable that you would need to arrive a half an hour sooner, and have your name and license number entered in a register.

I wonder how this would be coordinated between multiple stations or enroute..If a person enters his weapon at Point A and gets checked enroute I think he is sure to be deborded before every thing checks out..Indian railway lacks a concentrated and well established protocol for weapon transfers.
Am concerned with this issue cause,I am planning to bring in a weapon from chennai to Andhra pradesh, and train seems too risky..

RTI with railways can clear the picture about these "rules".

meow...to talk like this, think like this....is first step to surrender to illogical thought process.
I dont think there is any law saying that...how can any machinery be above law?
