Hi guys just a small clarification. All this so confusing. I know you can get maximum of 3 licenses but how many guns can you own. Imagine you have license for DBSG is the gauge mentioned in the license or you can buy any gauge and enter it in to your license. Imagine you have a DBSG license how many DBSG guns can you own is it only 1 DBSG or 2 or many???

One can own maximum three weapons in India. There can be one license for all the three weapons or a separate license for each weapon. Normally one license for three weapons is more common.

You are allowed to buy NPB gun. You can buy any NPB gun and enter it in your license.

Normally the combination of three weapons that you are allowed to own are one handgun, one rifle and one shotgun. But there is an exception to it. Some licensing authorites allow combination of two handguns and one rifle/shotgun or other such combination.

Hi,
In India the commonly used abbreviation used by licensing authorities is DBBL (double barrelled breech loading) shotgun or rifle. A single barrelled gun or rifle is referred to as SBBL. In the case of muzzle loaders it becomes DBML or SBML gun or rifle.
In addition to three weapons, a .22 rifle may be allowed by the licensing authority.
Regards.

Hi miroflex is it only additional .22 rifle or can it be a .22 pistol rather than a .22 rifle??? Should we specify the caliber before only or no???

One has to specifically mention .22 in the application. The fourth weapon can be a .22 pistol/revolver also if the licencee does not have more than one pistol or revolver already. I am talking about the practice in Kolkata. Issuing a licence, after all, is the discretion of the local administration and practices differ from place to place or state to state. So does leniency.
I had four licences till three years ago, all issued by Kolkata Police.
Cheers
TC
