The All India Validity is given for the license and NOT for each individual weapon. You can apply before purchase of additional weapons.

Hi sanikji, the All India validity on your A.L will be once you have had the weapons endorsed,as your A.L is from Delhi, it will go the The L.Gs office after recommendation from the DCP Licensing for a handgun it can be All India, but for Gun/rifle it will be 5 States, unless you are a renowned shot,Vineet in Haryana the Licence for Revolver/Pistol is granted a validity for All India, for Gun/ Rifle it is just 5 States unless you are a renowned shooter, Punjab is also following suit and is converting Applications for All India into 5 States unless you are a ----------

He already has a handgun on his license. Then why can he not apply for AIV (ALL India Validity]. There is no rule that says you need to have three weapons endorsed for AIV. There are many members here having AIV with one weapon on their license.

Again, there is no rule that says you need to have a handgun for AIV. My cousin had a 12 gauge gun on his license and he got his license valid for All India. Ofcourse this was before the new arms policy that was implemented on 31.03.2010. Here is a link to the policy http://mha.nic.in/pdfs/AaAPolicyInd-080410.pdf

After the implementation of above policy, AIV was closed for the common man and is currently allowed only to MP's, Military personnel, officers for All-India Service and sports person. Because the OP (sanikji) is asking for AIV here, I am assuming he is eligible for it.

Amit357, I am ready to permanently shift to Haryana if AIV is granted there. I repeat, after the implementation of new policy on 31.03.2010, its almost impossible for a common man to get AIV.

No, its not 5 states but just three adjoining states. Read the point no. 15 in the following link and tell me where does it say "5 states" http://mha.nic.in/pdfs/AaAPolicyInd-080410.pdf

You are wrong here also. Applications for AIV are not being converted into States. If you apply for AIV with state home department, they will reply to you saying that AIV powers are with central government and not with them.

I applied for AIV and my application reached the home department, Chandigarh on 04.04.2010 (i.e just few days after the implementation of new policy on 31.03.2010). I received a letter from home department saying that they no longer has power for AIV and I need to apply again if I need extension for three neighbouring states. After that I applied again and my license was extended to Chandigarh, Haryana, Rajasthan and Punjab (Punjab is my home state).

Addition allowed for Gun/Rifle and Pistol/Revolver--which are yet to be purchased.

Now my query is:

Whether I should apply for All India Validity before purchase of weapons or after purchase of weapons?

The basic reason behind above query is my lack of knowledge (I admit) w.r.t. fact as to whether the All India Validity is regarding the Licence as a whole or w.r. each individual weapon.
If the All india Validity is for each individual weapon, then naturally will take the trouble to apply only after purchase of additional weapons as allowed.

Thanks in advance

Sainikji

The link below lays down the criteria for grant of AIV for Lics issued in Delhi

Thanks to all the esteemed members for their valuable inputs.

On the basis of inputs, What I am able to understand is :
1. Confusion still prevails as to whether the AIV is w.r.t. Arms Licence or Individual Arms. (Dear Sanjay, i have ....gone through the link provided by you but nothing in mentioned in clear words about it)

I hope my further query will also tried to be resolved by esteemed members.

2. On the basis of Link provided by Mr. Vineet, I consider myself eligible for PROHIBITED BORE. However this has given rise to another query which is being posted under separate heading having link http://indiansforguns.com/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=17742.

I hope my further query will also tried to be resolved by esteemed members.
AIV is for the Lic,and not the firearm, but you can only apply when you have a weapon endorsed on your Lic.
So if you already have one firearm entered on your Lic,you can apply for AIV...even though you have not bought the other two
