Internal Security – II Division of MHA

Internal Security – II Division of Central Ministry of Home Affairs consists of various sections including Arms Section. Arms Section deals with following work:

1. Interpretation of Arms Act and Rules.
2. Delegation of powers under Arms Act and Rules.
3. Manufacture of fire arms and ammunition – Policy regarding.
4. Proof testing of fire arms – Policy regarding.
5. Manufacture of arms and ammunition in the Private Sector.
6. Possession of machinery to manufacture exempted type of air weapons.
7. Exemption under the Arms Act and Rules.
8. Prohibited Bore Fire Arms – Policy, interpretation and classification, Licences for PB Weapons.
9. Confiscation and seizure of fire arms and their disposal policy regarding.
10. Import and Export of arms – Policy under the Arms Act and Rules.
11. Possession licences granted by District Magistrates / State Governments / State Revenue Board under the Arms Act and Rules – representation, appeal, classification etc.
12. Theft / unlawful possession of fire arms and ammunition.
13. Stricter control on arms and ammunition – measures for.
14. Reports and Returns under Arms Act and Rules.
15. Explosive Substance Act :-
(i) Interpretation.
(ii) Amendment
(iii) Delegation
(iv) Leakage / theft of explosives – measures for prevention of.
16. Parliament work : Question / Resolution etc. Rajya Sabha / Lok Sabha.

Does anyone know the details about the above work been done by it, especially the kind of interpretation it does of Arms Act and Rules? Or any other controversial or useful information in regard to RKBA that can be extracted from it under RTI Act 2005?

They dont even respond to RTI's in timely manner. Chasing them for a couple of RTI'S since march....received response only on one till today.

after 30 days one should go for appeal. let them get fined, pay back time.lol

You should have gone for an appeal after 30 days and again if there is no reply then the matter goes to the CIC. Wonder why you have not filed a compliant yet.

Filed an appeal to appealent authority to concerned cpio, received response that; CPIO directed to reply. Received response for 1 out of 2. Wrote appealent authority again. Received another response that; they have given directions again.

I m not based in India, so thing bit hard for me regarding these issues.
