Check what is written on the license. If it is written something like 25/25 cartridges, then it means you can keep maximum 25 cartridges at a time and purchase 25 cartridges in a year. If it is written something like 25/50 cartridges, then it means you can keep maximum 25 cartridges at a time and purchase 50 cartridges in a year. If you want to keep or buy more cartridges then just get the ammunition quota increased. The usual reason for increasing ammunition quota is target practice.

Read somewhere on this website that one can bring in 50 cartridges from abroad. I am not able to recall the details. Please check the customs website for details.

Any licence holder of that particular caliber, can bring with him upto 50 rounds of ammo, free and beyond that, upto maximum purchase limit on one's licence, it will be charged custom duty etc.provided the airline he travels consents to transport ammo. Please check with latest baggage rules and customs procedures.

If on the license you have 25/50 then that would mean that you can get 25 in a trip and 25 in next trip. Total of 50 you can get in a yr time frame.

If you can get it update to 50/50, then you can get 50 in a single trip.
