hi guys i am new to this forum and my interest is in collecting hunting and sports knives. i am aware that we can get knives with a blade length less than 9 inches by shipping to india. but can i order hunting knives in bulk like around ten in numbers or so? is there a limit to the numbers? and whats the take on hunting axes? like camping axes? they have a small blade but the handles are big. and are there any restrictions on throwing knives or shurikens? like the ninja throwing stars? can someone please answer my queries? i have just landed on a deadly place where they sell sport and hunting knives in bulk... thanks

AFAIK, there is no limit on the number as long as you stick to the limits. However, the interpretation of the motive is subjective and you might have to make a trip to the customs entry port with proof and documentation. Duty at 41% will mostly be added if they buy your motive.

AFAIK knives are under OGL (open general license) and would be free to import upon payment of applicable duties without requirement for any specific import license. For exact details please pick up the latest copy of the EXIM (Export Import) policy notified by the Ministry of Commerce or look it up online.

For commercial imports/ exports you will need to apply for an IEC No. i.e. Import Export Code No. in the name of your business, this is required for the customs paperwork. It is issued by the DGFT (Directorate General of Foreign Trade), if you have not done so already look up your local DGFT office and apply for the same. It's not difficult and comes through within a month or so without any need to curry favour.

hey guys thanks a lot. i am just ordering around ten knives and they are for my private collection. all are within the permissible blade size. not for commercial purpose or sale or business. can anyone tell me do i need any special papers? or can one of my friends carry them for me from the US by unaccompanied baggage? which is better unaccompanied baggage or direct shipping from the seller?
