Why do you need to carry your revolver? Assam is perfectly safe, I've just back from a two week holiday. Some airlines like Jet allow you to carry firearms in unaccompanied luggage (checked in baggage), please inform the airlines in advance. Do not wait for it to show up in the X ray. I 'm told the CISF guys don't find much humour in such things. I would again advise you not carry the revolver unless there is a clear and present danger to your life.

Regards,

Dev

Hello carrying of licensed firearms in checked baggage after due declaration to the concerned airline, has been discussed earlier, in detail, in the legal section.
Sometimes due to the size of some small aircraft, checked in baggage may be (more easily) accessible to the passengers in the cabin, in which case the airline may not allow the transportation of the said firearms at all between some sectors/remote areas etc serviced only by these small aircraft.
Please check ahead of time with the airline and be specific about the origin and destination as well as the flight number you may be traveling on.
Regards,
Anand

...clear and present danger... Dev? Seriously? How would I know for sure?

No place is perfectly safe. If I knew exactly when I would need a weapon, I would just choose not to be there. However, since I can't tell when and where a threat will manifest itself, it would be prudent to carry at all times. I'm sure the people in Luby's Cafeteria in Texas thought they were safe as nothing had ever happened there before.
I'm sure Abraham Lincoln didn't think there was a clear and present danger to his life as he sat and watched that play at Ford's Theater. Those Israeli athletes in Munich during the 1972 Olympics surely didn't think anyone's life could be in danger during such a festive time. Those students at Virginia Tech didn't think there was a clear and present danger to their lives before they were massacred; they were just poor students - who would bother doing anything to them? Those poor kids at Utoya, Norway didn't think there was a clear and present danger on that vacation island.

Brar,
The thing is that you have to be prepared at all times. If you have a weapon and can legally carry it, you are luckier than the vast majority of people in India. If you are willing to take responsibility for yourself and your loved ones and are willing to carry it at all times, I salute you.

Carry it every where you legally can with a bit of normal level pride.
