my dear friends,we have retained our fire arms,315rifle and .32 beretta pistol,my freinds .22beretta pistol and a helices shot gun this election. which was a surprise to many of my friends as well as cops.this is the first time happening in my home town.no one was aware of such a law ''excemption from depositing guns during elections''.we stood our ground as per nrai ,met the dm,sp and gave all paper guided by our ''indians for guns''.we are so happy to have acheived something through ''indians for guns''.this i feel,this is a great success being in this forum and for those untold members working secretly for this.hats offf for those working.we are obliged to this lot and will serve when time comes.i want comments.jk

Hope days are not far when all people will be able to stand their ground on the basis of RKBA being a human right and fundamental right under Articles 19 and 21.

This is really good, if could elaborate how you "convinced" DM, SP etc.? first we gave the dm and the sp, a copy of our licence,govt notification on excemtion,rifle club membership with a covering letter.DM was not happy about this,but the SP said he had to verify the govt order.i voluntarily took out the election commissions ''model of conduct'' compendium instructions volume 3 booklet through the net and handed over to the sp.He then instructed the police station not ask for our weapons.we also submitted a copy to the local police station concerned. Are you referring to this? not exactly the one you posted, i meant when the first time it was posted in 2009.i never knew there excisted an excemption. it is very annoying when the cops and officials are ignorant about the government orders and notifications.sure we will stand our ground on rkba.

Actually the Election Commission's concern in this matter was that those licensees who had been known to make trouble during elections earlier or had other wise been up to mischief, were to be ordered to deposit their firearms as a precaution, so that there would be no impediment to the fair and fearless conduct of elections. Unfortunately that was convoluted and made a blanket order to have every licensee deposit firearms(some times it appears as if the Police are only looking for some loophole or other to disarm law abiding licensees ). The NRAI sought an exemption to this for its members rather than fight the matter at a more basic level.
The more number of rifle club members that seek to use this facility or those that choose to take the matter to court will benefit every licensee.

Can we file RTI to the election commissioner to give more clear order on the same issue, citing the reason that the police has interpreted this to be a order for all licensee holders to deposit their arms.

We cannot use RTI to ask any public authority to give orders. Scope of RTI is only to obtain a copy of "information" as it is, from any public authority. It cannot be used for requesting to give orders or to seek any justification, reasons etc.
