Hello,
Could anyone explain the legality in importing reloading equipment for personal use?
Can it be brought straight in or is some sort of license required?
I have an All India License wherein in one pound gun powder and 100 caps are endorsed.

Possession of "capper" &"decapper" for reloading for personal use are considered legal.The tools and equipment for personal use is allowed. Since reloading equipment itself is legal and not regulated for personal use, there should not be any problem in importing it. However the Customs people can give you grief over just about anything, and even if it is legal, may ask you for a NOC from your licensing authority etc. or ask to pay import duties etc.

AFAIK there is no separate licensing for the reloading equipment for personal use if thats what you are worried about.

i think the law makers did know that there excits any reloader,otherwise we would have a nother law against it.

What Anand says is a fact but importing it makes no sense as the main ingredients for reloading , primers and powder is totally disallowed by all commercial airlines and carriers in personal baggage or any other mode. Probably that is why the reloading equipment control has been spared by the licensing authorities . One surely can use the reloader especially for a shotshells to alter the now dubbed illegal buckshots and other ammo into smaller numbers in order to shoot and carry them legally. I once carried Lee Load All shotshell reloader from the USA and was thoroughly checked by US customs for Powder and primers while exiting. And this was much much before 9/11 happened.

Hi Roland just out of curiosity,the 1 pound of gun Powder and 100 p.Caps endorsed on your license,would that be a license for a Muzzle Loader Gun or a Shotgun?
