hi,
my application for hand gun licence is stuck with the Revenue divisional officer of my district..I got a no objection from the SP of police and a no objection from MRO also..This RDO has my file for over 2 months now,i have made several trips to his office and he says that he has to visit my business premisis and my residence, and only after that he will recomend for grant of licence.i agreed, but he never shows up..this has hapened over n over again for the past 2 months..
As far as the arms act,and the licencing rules are concerned, what is the role of the RDO or the revenue department? are there any rules which say that the RDO approval is also necessary.
The DM has asked for there report too..
please help.
thanks.

Hi Syed, these are just hurdles in the way of obtaining an Arms License by the licensing authority, there were times when A Ls were issued on the verbal orders of the DMs,they were a different breed of officers and simple days,so go to the RDO,please his "EGO'" and get your work done, after you have got your A L,thank GOD they didnt ask you to get a NOC from the RTO/RTA

is there any legal order or any provision in any ACT or POLICY of the government, that says that RDO has a say in the matter??what happenes if this RDO comments that i am not fit for a licence..does that statement hold any ground, even though the police report has given a NO OBJECTION for me to posses the weapon..
thanks

hello friend your rdo will say no,may be laugh at you.after that you will have to face the dm who will deny.ask for the reason for denial.once they do go to the court and stand for your right.i bet you'll get your licence.learn to fight for your right donot under estimate yourself.you ar are legal citizen, mind it.

gents stick to the arms act, the act says a licence can not be denying if one does not have income etc. thus one can do an RTI to see the status of your application etc at the RDO

Let me tell you guys,RTI or the threat of filing an RTI does work..my file got cleared from this insects [rdo's] office yesterday..did not pay him a single rupee..instead, after me waiting for over 2 months, for him to clear my file,i having lost my patience[which does not happen easily}, decided to file a rti seeking info on why his ass was not moving.. :D ,And within 10 minutes of me showing up in his office,i was invited to his chambers, with him saying that he was soo busy for the past 2 months that he could not work on my file and that there was no need to file a rti as that will serve no purpose,,and presto..he signed it in front of me, highly recommending that i be granted a licence, and he sent it to the DM s office, in front of me,and even gave me a copy of it..i guess, donkeys which are used to lathi, cant respond to requests..
now the games begin at DM S office..
