The Deal Wood Test

A few questions on the dead wood test :

1) Has the Dead Wood Test ever been conducted for any of you? Does it actually ever take place or is it just one of those laws which was written and then forgotten?

2) Does the law specify the type of pellet to be used (weight or shape), because AFAIK, using a lighter pellet even in a hunting rifle would make it pass the test. And if there is no law regarding this I could use a cleaning pellet during the test or a really light and compressible soft lead pellet and pass it.

3) If it ever happens that the test is conducted and a rifle fails the test, what action would be taken against the person owning the weapon? Would it be unlicensed possession of illegal weapon (same charge as that for owning a desi katta)... or would it end at confiscation of the weapon?

Thank you all in advance.

ssshooter, why does it matter whether they check or not, a responsible citizen should abide by law.this whole forum is about being within the arms rule and fighting for your right.think twice before you try anything .happy shooting.

dr.jayakumar, obviously it is our responsibility to know and follow the law as a responsible citizen, but it would still be nice to know if the law is even implemented or not.

Besides, its not like I can get my hands on an air rifle that is capable of failing the deal wood test!!

A member told us that when he brought his air rifle in baggage to Chennai airport,it was sent for a deal wood test at the forensics. It failed obviously. It is implemented but how uniformly is a guess.

Thanks VIkram. Did Gocool get the reply to his RTI application? I could not see any further posts or details. It would really have helped throw some light on the whole thing.
