Dear mehul

I want to know if I buy an air gun take it to India, am I eligible for another gun ie; .22 on TR. What is the rule. only one gun of either type is allowed?

Hi Sudhakar,

Can you please post it in "Arms laws in India" section? An air rifle does not come under firearms category and no restriction on bringing them into the country provided you prove that is an air rifle.

If you go through the aforementioned forum, you will find answers to your question.

An air rifle is not considered to be a firearm,as Vikram has already told you.For you to import a firearm under TR,you have to fulfill the following conditions:-

a)The firearm should have been owned by you for a minimum of one year prior to the transfer of residence.

b) It has to be in your possession and not merely bought and kept with a dealer or somebody else.

c)This would also mean that the country in which you are,allows you to own and hold a firearm in the first place.

d)It has to be of a prescribed category(read Non Prohibited firearm)
