procedure to obtain a temprorary traveller's license

My license is for Tamilnadu only. If i have to carry it on a on a holiday trip of two or more days , outside the area of validity, how do i get a traveller's temprorary licence. Secondly, how do i carry it on an aircraft. Thirdly where should i keep my fire arm when visiting a temple / religious place or any other site seeing place where arms are not allowed. Please give me the practical procedure . I would also like to hear from fellow IFGIANS about their similar experiences .

getting a temporary travel permit is one way, the other would be to get an "All India Validity"
probably a little more difficult, but the effort for any license nowadays seems to be the same .
You will have to apply to the LA for the travel permit and to the Home Secretary for the AIV.

As far as carrying the licensed firearm on the aircraft is concerned, this has been discussed in quite a bit of detail in the Legal section. The storage of the firearm during your temple visits will require a strong metal or hard plastic box that will not give access to your firearm to anyone else. There are many "safes" "storage boxes" or cases for the very purpose.

When I go to Tirupati, usually it is by flight to Chennai (as my sister & BIL stay there) and by car to Tirumala/Tirupati. So storing a firearm is usually not an issue while I visit the temple, I even carry when climbing the hill by foot. They do have metal detectors at the base, but upon telling the guard that I had a license,(he did not even ask to see it) there were no issues. so far!

I agree carrying firearms in places of worship is not a legal issue but more of a perception/cultural issue of the guards or management concerned. I have seen people carrying firearms openly in places of worship in northern part of India.
