hi guys,,
i am looking to apply a hand gun licence n my doubt is that my dad has a dbbl licence n his weapon is with him in our house,,now i am supposed to mention if any member of my family owns a fire arm n by saying yes --is it going to effect the decision of granting me a licence or not?? both of us r in the same house n will tht make any negative decisions coming my way ??

Other members can chime in but license is issued to you and your fathers guns or lic should have no bearing, so does the form require this additional information?

It should not have any effect, but asking of such illegal question itself on application form is something wrong.
Self defense is a fundamental right guaranteed under Article 21 of Constitution, and applying for Arms license is a legal right. I would request you to read completely a recent important judgment by High Court, AP http://www.indiansforguns.com/viewtopic ... 7&start=15 and also

hi guys,
applied my licence for npb pistol/revolver yesterday,,paid the challan of rs,100 and submitted my application with the challan copy to DM office, C section , with residence proof, n tax returns ,n photos,,my application was returned on the spot saying that it has to be submitted in duplicate,,that my resid proof n all other docum have to be attested by gazzated officer,,n i have no clue if this guy is just making me go round n round or are any of these true??
plz help out n i am in andhra, prakasam dist, n did i miss any thing else in my application here,,thanks,,

No need to submit anything in original. In government offices, photocopies of documents attested by Gazetted Officers are only accepted. Hence no one is making you go round and round. There is no need to submit extra, unnecessary documents like Income Tax returns etc. You do not have to be a tax payer to get an arms license, getting an arms license is your legal right. Submit only the documents that are asked for in application form. Go to any Gazetted officer with originals and photo copies and get photo copies attested.(Example: In Govt. Hospital the Superintendent, Army Officers rank of Lt. Col. and above, District Magistrate, SHO of Police Station etc. are examples of gazetted officers)

but should the application form itself be submitted in duplicate,,? i.e,, should i submit application form and its xerox copy???/this is what was asked by the officer,,two forms,,two sets of photos,,two sets of every thing,,and wht should be written in PART C,,
1- NEED FOR LICENCE IS-- SELF PROTECTION,
2- DISCRIPTION OF ARMS/AMMUNITION--NPB PISTOL/REVOLVER,,(wht should be written on the ammunitation part?)
3--PLACE/ROUTE OF IMPORT/EXPORT/TRANSPORT---wht should be written here??(i did not mention anything regards ammo in my app)
4--OTHER PARTICULARS REQUIRED AS IN THE RELEVANT LICENCE FORM--this has been left empty by me,,,should there be something written here??
5---ANY CLAIMS FOR SPECIAL CONSIDERATION--this too has been left empty by me,,any thing here tht i should write??

No harm in submitting everything in duplicate if asked by DMs office. Do not forget to get an acknowledgment receipt/reference of the application submitted. What you have filled seems correct. If any doubts keep them blank and ask the person in DM's office to whom you will be submitting the application form.

HI GUYS,
my licence application has come under review and the district collector has sent a letter stating that my application for pistol licence is under investigation,,i had specifically mentioned in my application that i want a NPB REVOLVER/PISTOL licence,,now only PISTOL is mentioned in the enquiry letter,,now if i get a licence ,,will it mean that i can only buy a pistol?? if i want to buy a revolver,,then what should i do?? is this the time that i need to correct this error and have them mention both revolver n pistol?? do i need to submit a fresh application again?? please help me out,

Sayeed looking at the nature of your questions It seems there is a lack of maturity. The Officer asked that you submit the supporting documents in duplicate and that does not means that the application should also be in duplicate . Secondly yours is not the first license application handled by the licensing authority . They know their job , so let them do it . You will be issued a NP Bore pistol/revolver license so don't panic.

i already submitted the application n the licencing authority has asked the police n revenue depts to investigate my request for a PISTOL ONLY licence,,my question was ,, if my licence is issued only for pistol,,then how can i buy a revolver if i want to?? i had mentioned clearly for a revolver/pistol licence in my application,,is there a process to rectify this error ??
n as for the lack of maturity part, sir,,i humbly must agree with you,,i am,, but all of 26 years,,please show us the way,,

You need not to worry about " pistol only " . They will endorse NP Bore Pistol/Revolver .
