Hi all,

Today I went for hearing at the LG's office, only to be told that the LG had to go for an urgent meeting and all the hearings for today have been post-posed to January.
I argued with the guy and tried to convince him to give me an earlier date, but no avail.

Now I would have to wait for 3 more months before my case comes up for hearing.

Yes, sadly. I spoke to the LG's office and I don't think they can change it either...

Inplainsight, was your hearing also scheduled for 23rd Oct? Too bad it got post-poned.

One more point raised by Dheeraj :

By January, it would be 6 months from the date of rejection of application. After 6 months, a person becomes eligible to apply for an arms license again.
So the LG might as well ask us to re-apply for the license and go through the process all over again.

Any suggestions guys?

Why not get in touch with the arms dealers. They a have a better approach to the authorities. The question is why was it rejected. Arms license is issued under three categories. Crop protection, sports shooter and self defense under threat to life. Do you have a threat to your life.

Thanks for the suggestions Farook. Unfortunately I don't come anywhere near to being a state or district level shooter. I had applied under self defense category.

Under this category they would see your net worth. You need to be having a pretty hefty Income Tax Return and own the house you live in.

Absolutely incorrect. I know of someone who had an income of a few hundred Rs (bank interest!) and got a license in this category.

Real life example aside, the law itself very clearly states that financial status will in no way determine the approval or rejection of an arms license.

Rahul has approached the court and the Arms Act will determine the outcome. If not at the LG court, definitely at the high court.
