I am a NRI living in France. I will travel to India on 11/01/12 and arrive at the Kolkata airport. I am planning to bring my Air Pistol to keep in constant touch with the training. Do you think that I should carry on or should I abandon my idea? I am also a member of a Shooting club in India. I did the same 2 years back without problem but I understand that the things have changed now.
Please advise.

Hi tirpassion,
The way i see it... your decision should depends on to conditions...
1. In case you are coming back to India for good... then you can attempt to bring it with you as leaving it there would also mean a loss...
2. In case you are coming for some time, then, i really dont think that you should bring it, as the chance of getting it cleared is next to impossible...
Regards,
Nazeef

Hi, as it is... we are already in deep 'problem'... now, as to what i beleive, it all comes down to the way you deal with the Cargo personnel and the amount you pay to get your package released... just need to make sure that we don't end up paying unreasonable amount... that's the call one needs to make...
Hi Nazeef,
Anything new ?
Regards.
Hi,
I hvae already sent my package back to Pyramyd Air... In fact, they have received it and processing my refund...
Regards,
Nazeef

Dear sir,
At this time we are not able to ship any of our items into India. The reason for this is Customs is not allowing any air rifles or pistols to pass though the New Delhi port. If you have any other questions, please feel free to let us know.
Thanks,
Erika

Bro import nothing right now as you will be harassed and lose your money. For your information get it from Steyr and go for the electronic trigger.

its good but not good enough as its only a temp holding order and not the final outcome. it will still make no differnce with imports etc.

Hi Nazeef and all,
First of all, I wish you all a happy New year and celebrations for this good news.
Do you think now that i can bring my AP during my visit to India next week? I will arrive in Kolkata Intl airport and I HAVE ALREADY asked PERMISSION to carry my weapon to the airlines company I will be flying. But I can always cancell the decision even at the last moment not to cay the AP. After all, it is a question of about 3/4 weeks during my stay in India. I just did not want to miss on my practice.
best regards

Plz carry it... Along with the relevant documents and a cut out (of the news on the stay).
I don't think there will be any problems...
