Can NRAI Life Members own a 04th Weapon ???
I have heard that life members of the NRAI can own a 04th weapon in the form of a .22 rifle !!!
Is the above true and if yes can this be substantiated ???
Reason for asking is that i had gone to the New Delhi Addtl CP Licensing deptt in Def Col and the designated gents from the deptt flatly refused that a 04th weapon (.22 rifle) was not allowed under any circumstances unless one is a renowned shot.
Your help on the above would be highly appreciated but please do not just put your comments on what YOU feel but please substantiate the same so that it can help me and others like me who are in the same predicament.
Thanks & Regards ,
Rohit.

Rohit,
As a NRAI member, you are eligible for an additional .22 rifle as your fourth weapon. Will try to get a copy of the G.O which states the same.Just checked on the NRAI website and they dont have it.
Will get back to you by this evening.
Cheers

Ashar ,
That would be extremely helpful (hopefully) but then one never knows what the gents at the licensing deptt will say in order to contradict the document.
In any case will let you all know the outcome once i recv the document from Ashar and show it to the licensing deptt.
Will send you a pm with my coordinates.
Cheers Rohit.

Re: 4th firearm (22lr) on a licence....
Rohit,
The link you are trying is actually an interpratation of the relevant section of the arms act. The portion from the bare act was also posted by me on page no 1. Here it is.....
http://www.vakilno1.com/bareacts/Armsac ... r2/S3.html
And for my interpretation of the text, see again my second post on page no 1 of this thread.
This time, I am also posting the relevant section as contained in the Arms Act. Note that there is no mention of "life membership"
All the best,
Sujay

I would suggest that anyone applying for a .22 LR rifle license as a 4rth firearm (for target practice), submit a covering letter along with the application addressed to the relevant local licensing authority.
It should be something along the lines of:
Sir/ Madam,
Please find enclosed my application for a fourth firearm license, a .22 rifle for target practice. This is application is made as per Sections 3 (1), 3(2) and 3 (3) of the Arms Act 1959. Please find enclosed along with my application a copy of my xyz rifle association/ shooting club membership card, a copy of the relevant sections of the Arms Act 1959, participation certificates for xyz competition held at abc city, letter of recommendation from xyz rifle association/ shooting club etc. etc.
The above is merely an indicative covering letter, am sure members here would be able to take it from here...
Cheers!

It's always better to have a gun and not need it than need a gun and not have it !
Re: 4th firearm (22lr) on a licence....
Anyone trying to find a GO saying that Rifle club members are allowed to own one .22 rifle over and above the 3 gun limit ,will not be able to find one for the simple reason that there is none.
The Act itself is pretty clear on this. There is no limit on the number of .22 rifles for a club member.
