Thats not a bad idea at all.. One day you will make a fine senior ;)

Nah.. our methods are a little too primitive to be explained in a modern language called English...
The first process is called 'SarvaAngaMamblookah' which is a process invented when the Sanskrit speaking Indians reached West Indies (where the first African settlers displayed hostility) ... then we go on to 'ChinInAr SeFurHur Kablooish' .. and so on.. :)

Re: How to get Bangalore Police Verification certificate (PV

Post by lazybones » Wed Dec 10, 2008 1:22 am

My earlier post on how to get a PVC in Bangalore now stands validated.
Three people have now gone through it successfully.
The home visit takes from 10 days to 20 days from the day you submit the form to the Commissioners Office.
The final PVC reaches the KSRA anywhere between 14 days to 30 days after the home visit.
Only one person out of three (moi) was asked to go to the thana for steps h-n

Part Two: The Home Visit and Thana visit

The home visit requires you to keep the following ready:
Two sheets of plain paper- A4 size, One passport size photograph, a xerox copy of your address proof, the original address proof document, your visiting card (if you have one) and a pen.

A constable from your local Police Station will visit you at home.
If you are not there he will leave his name and address ( and now cell phone number) with whoever is at home. They usually land up in the evening (5-7:30 pm).

If you are at home:
a) He will have a pleasant chat with you - How long have you lived here ?Is this place rented /yours ? Why are you asking for this PVC ?
b) He will ask you to take the first piece of A4 paper, and your pen, and will dictate a letter that you must write out. This is to the Sub Inspector of your local Thana introducing yourself and asking him to give you a favorable PVC. You will then sign this letter.
c) He will now dictate another letter (remember the second A4 sheet ?); This time from one of your neighbors. this letter will state that said neighbor has known you to be resident at said address from whenever to the present.
d) You will now have to scamper off to any neighbor you haven't, as yet, mortally offended and grovel for a signature. Being a Bangalorean, your neighbor will cross-examine you relentlessly and will lecture you on the evils of the shooting sports. Bear it with fortitude and a keen sense of humor. Hurry back to the waiting constable like a dog returning a stick to its master.
e) The constable will now ask for your photograph - fork it over.
f) He will ask to see your adress proof and will ask, and take a xerox copy of the same.
g) He will inform you that he will give you a favorable report - say thank you.
h) In my case (one in 3); he will invite you to visit the thana the next day to meet his Sub Inspector. Ask him when the SI is likely to be there. Ask him for his (the constable's) name and cell phone number. Promise that you will show up at the appointed time. Take directions if you don't already know where the thana is.

If you are not at home; call him and reschedule. He will invite you come over to the thana. Do so.

end of home visit

i) Call the constable and confirm that the SI is in.
j) Toodle over to the thana.
k) Ask for the constable by name and designation (verification constable).
l) He will sit you down and open a book of mugshots - do not be alarmed. He will produce your mugshot ( see e. above) and proceed to paste it into the book with Camlin glue. He will ask you to sign in this book
m) He will now produce a file with all the papers you submitted yesterday - yes, they have a file on you now . He will ask you to follow him.
n) He will take you in to see his boss the SI.
The SI I met was young, smart and spoke impeccable English. He asked me to sit down, perused my file critically, smiled, and said thank you - total time with the SI; approx 4 minutes.
o) Thank the SI, exit his room, thank the constable and exit building quickly before they change their mind.

end of Thana Visit.

p) Completely put everything connected with the KSRA out of your mind for 14 days. At the end of two weeks start pestering the A.O. at the KSRA with phone calls (not more than once a week) asking if your PVC has reached him from the Commissioner's Office. Mr. Krishana (the A.O) is a wonderful person and will treat your increasing hysterical calls with his usual professionalism and good cheer. This can last anywhere from 14 to 30 days (mine took 30 days; the other 2 cases took 14).

q) Go for a long ocean voyage to recover from this marathon.

Hope this eases the travails of the next pilgrim in line for these rigors.

Ashok

Thankx Ashok for all the details. Its been 2 weeks since I've personally handed the request form (which I got from KSRA) to the Commissioner's Office and the man in khakki still has'nt turned up.

A question for TenX! HOW ARE YOU ASSOCIATED TO KSRA (with regards to the website)???

Sorry TenX! Did'nt mean to scare you. Just wondering since your posts show that you are someway closely related to KSRA.

Ticky:
TenX is the proverbial "humble" man, though there's nothing humble about his achievements. He's a top ranked shooter and has all the top awards Karnataka can give a sportsman.

He's also a User Experience and Interaction Design engineer; and yes, he's got a handful of international and industry awards in this field as well.

Need I add great human being and helpful to a fault ?

I just couldn't let all this "humility" pass unchallenged :D

Good to know so much about TenX from Lazybones, but there was no "humiliation" intented for anybody. Just a little pissed off because of not getting my things around (about my training not happening in time for my pending license and the PVC also not happening in the intended time period for my KSRA membership) in time and a little envy about TenX being closely linked with KSRA (which I came to know through his posts on this forum).

Just curious and eagerly waiting to meet all of you once I get my KSRA membership (which I hope happens soon!) :)

Ticky: i was referring to TenX's display of humility :D
There is nothing even remotely offensive about any of your posts. It's an arduous process bro. Keep the faith.

Latest PVC Procedure
( as of this morning):
1) Carry with you - The PVC request form issued by the KSRA, and one Xerox copy of the same form.

2) Walk into the Commissioner's office (Infantry Road).

There is no parking inside the complex - 2 or 4 wheels (thanks for the warning Mack The Knife). For parking, drive past the C's Office, go past the first crossing, go past the second crossing, and park on the left hand side of Infantry Road (it's all one way).

3) Stop at the Information booth inside the C's Office (a booth to your left as soon as you enter the gate. Inform the constable inside of your mission and sign the entry register.

4) Exit the booth, turn left and walk up to the "Single window" section(it will be on your right, built into the main building)

5) Wait for your turn at Counter Number 2 and show them the KSRA "request for verification" form. They will direct you to the Inward section located next door (do not go directly to the Inward section)

6) Exit the single window section and enter the door adjacent to it - the Inward section is in there. The door is clearly marked "No Entry" so it's a good idea to stand at the door and ask for the inward section and enter when instructed to do so. This is the reason for Step 5.

7) Walk to the second table on the left (in an open alcove just before it opens into a large hall).

8) The officer ( at a table abutting the wall in the alcove) will take the KSRA form and the Xerox copy of it. He will stamp the Xerox copy and return it to you.
There is no charge whatsoever

If you have forgotten to xerox the Form: excuse yourself, exit the main gate and cross the road - there's a Xerox wallah almost directly opposite the main gate. Return to the Inward Section

9) For any enlightenment return to the single window section (Counter 2). they will politely tell you that:
a) You can go home now
b) The form will be dispatched to your local Thana that evening
c)That you will be paid a visit at home within a couple of days
d) that 5 days after Step 9-c) you can return to the Verification section (located round the corner of the building) with your stamped Xerox copy and collect your Final Verification.

10) Exit gracefully with your dignity intact. The entire process will take you about 5 minutes :)

Note: the staff at the Bangalore Police Commissioner's Office are incredibly polite and have high regard for the KSRA. It's a good idea to be well attired and soft spoken (I live in scruffy jeans and HiTecs these days :D ).

This was my experience this morning. I'd like this validated by one other person before declaring it a formal change to the procedure. Will the Newbie next in line please validate :D

Ashok

I can confirm all of the above holds good as of 14th June 2010 - nothing has changed. :)

I now await the constable's visit.
