A quick advice.U should have someone with you as company, since all your belongings such as mobile and other important stuff are to be left outside. Also any increase in amount shall have to be paid the very moment when inside and that also by a demand draft, even if Re1.I saw a case when a gentleman from chandigarh had to rush back to a bank for a Re1 dd,as SAF had a price difference by 1 rupee,so the gentleman had deposited dd for 1 rupee less thinking that was a common govt.rate.
Not to disturb you but stay firm in opinion as the people inside are arrogant and have demanded money upto sums of Rs10000 if some overwritings sort of things are in lic.

Dear Pointblank - thanks for advice. There is no overwriting on the license and it is in Hindi. If they demand Rs. 10,000 from me, I will not give.

Dear Syed - My license is valid all UP.

Since I will be driving to Kanpur, thus I plan to leave all mobile etc inside the car only.

Thanks guys for your advices, please keep the guidance coming.

Cheers....

Hi All,

Can you buy ammo from UP if you have Delhi only license? All we get an noc from Delhi then we need to apply transport license in Kanpur before DM.

Now it doesn't make sense to me that, TL authorize you to buy ammo interstate.

I have seen someone in trouble over this, so I know....

Awaiting responses....

Dear Syed - Thanks for your information.

Sirs,
I went to the arms dealer myself today, with my license and IOF/ FGF call letter. The dealer refused to give ammo on it since the weapon was not entered on it.
However, I was informed by him that I can get the revolver and once FGF stamps/enters it on my license, I can buy ammo from some outlet nearby FGF, they will provide.

I think I will not take chance and have to beg my father for some from his 0.32 Webley.

Dear WTP - he also has s&w 0.32 short KF made.

The attitude of NCR arms dealer is funny, I asked him if they have good holsters and Lanyard, he just said get the gun first and then I can have it.

Looks like a brush with civil and police depts. have got them this arrogance.
What a lanyard or holster has to do with getting the gun, I may keep mobile phone in the holster ( as one of the IFG member is doing) I dont remember the thread :)

Cheers...
Firearms dealers consider you as their time waster once they find out they can't sell any thing to you on the same day.

Seniors kindly correct me if I am wrong

Yes, unless you have a temporary area extension approval, you be in trouble for carrying firearms or ammo where you are not supposed to carry according to endorsements on your license. You can get booked under arms act for this.

In the state of HP, computerised licences are issued. The system does not allow mention of ammunition until a weapon is entered on the licence. The column no. 4 and 5 are kept blank when a new licence booklet is issued.
Licences are generally issued for All HP state validity. Applicants need to get a no objection certificate for buying revolver from kanpur which is in UP. The NOC does not mention authorisation for purchase of ammunition from anywhere outside the state. The red tape bureaucrats do not understand the meaning of threat faced by applicants who travel to buy new weapon from ordinance factories.
One such licencee who purchased 10 cartridges from a dealer in kanpur faced trouble in Solan HP. His weapon entry was stopped by the ADM. Nothing works more in Himachal than approach from a known of the bureaucrat. Weapon was entered.
You can think what happens when a officer sitting in AC, holding 9mm service pistol with 2 Guards sitting outside his office gets job of Assessing threat perception to a common man using colonial arms law.
Getting an arms licence in HP is mostly a personal obligation from the Officer who has many discretionary powers at his disposal making the law not very transparent for applicants.
No arms and ammunition dealer in HP issue ammunition on such licence in which column no. 4 and 5 are kept blank (Form III).

Guys,

Got the revolver last month.
No one sold me cartridges before entry of weapon on my license, only after entry I could buy cartridges.
The entry here means the stamp that IOF, Kanpur puts with weapon no. as part of delivery process & not inspection entry at collectorate, which is a later on process.

Hope this benefits the other members in my earlier positions.

Cheers...
