Import of Air Guns banned in India...!!

Has this "law" been done under Section 5 of Foreign Trade (Development and Regulation) Act, 1992? It will be better if someone can post the complete copy of this "law", so that one can figure out the section and the name of law that has delegated these legislative powers of the Parliament to the Customs.

Why did suddenly the Customs start having pain in its ar*e after the stay of Supreme Court and put this 4 airgun limit? Rather than taking this "law" quitely, it is better if NRAI members who are paying their hard earned money as membership fees to NRAI, put pressure on NRAI to also fight this, by adding this to the existing Supreme Court case. In civil cases you can join multiple cases together.

It's 4 per person. There are more than 40-50 rifles and pistols lying with customs all over India.

Well, I spoke to the dep commissioner of customs who used to be my school pal. If you're not a renowned shot or a state or a district level champ, you'll be able to import only 4 guns- be it a pistol or a rifle. Just 4 in your entire life.

If you get some kind of a ranking, or if you win some championship, you are eligible to import 10 guns. That's it.

Its not that you'll be able to import 4 per year.. its JUST 4 in your life.

Sure, flying to Delhi on Monday just to get the rifle cleared myself. Visiting personally has always helped me a lot in building rapo with customs.

Also, I am an advocate- I do nothing without paperwork. My RTI application is ready already. Shall keep you posted.

Custom has started clearing the Air Rifle from today so guys you can import your weapons but New law has come up stating ONLY FOUR AIR RIFLE can be import in a YEAR (according to my knowledge from this year it is applied) Please confirm it,

no doubt but where is the official notification etc.

i mean no disrespect, many times members have come up with lots of things but no official notification could be given and in the end proved to be just hogwash. hence the reason "where is the official notification." and not a noti official saying hogwash.

Also, this one;s my 6th import... lets see if they have maintained the records, and how do the plan to track the imports. As far as the clearance of my rifle is concerned, my main motive is to have it cleared... Planning to import 8 more by the end of the year. RTI application is like putting everything on a record. Still thinking! lol
