Re: Not allowed to carry during model code of conduct period?
Just FYI all... I had two gentlemen from the local Police Station visit my place a couple of days back. They had with them a list of licensees in my block and were apparently giving everyone a house call. They first tallied our firearms & license no's with their list, one license no. was incorrect as it had been changed at the time of renewal some years back (by the licensing authority), but other than that their list was complete (at least with regard to my place).
They then informed us that we should deposit our arms for elections, I showed them my NRAI membership card and informed them of my exemption, which satisfied them.
As to the other licensees at my place (my uncle & Dad), they were quite OK about them not depositing their arms, as their orders were to concentrate their efforts on "bad characters", "sensitive areas" etc. and ex-servicemen, senior citizens, "responsible citizens" were not to be hassled. The current scenario considered, I personally thought that their attitude was commendable, and as it should be.
Of course one would wish that this (the current scenario) was very different, but that is another thread and another discussion altogether....
Cheers!

P.S. This is the first time this has happened, we have almost never ever been even asked to deposit our firearms prior to this. The only exception being the general elections 5 odd years back, when my uncle and I were asked to deposit one firearm each.

Good stuff. Shows that at least a few people at the enforcement side are thinking about a law that is leaving the innocent defenseless.

Good Question, sanjay, when u get renowned shooter certificate from NRAI after national's, they put you in list, and before nationals, if you regularly, submit ur pre-nationals / and state level certificate, to add weapon/increase ammo / or all india endorcement, may be chances u enter the list... rest others r regular shooters....Sanjay wrote:Renowned shot yes,how do you define a regular shooter....what's the QR....amit888_2000 wrote:well boys, this is how it happens in delhi..........
