License for arms other than firearms
License for arms other than firearms
No license is required for arms other than firearms unless the Central Govt. issues a notification under Section 4 of the Arms Act, requiring these to be licensed.
This has been upheld in the courts as well.

Zipo? Life preservers? I am presuming that they are not talking about Zippo lighters and floatation devices here, does anyone know what these terms refer to?
Cheers!

Re: License for arms other than firearms
Various state govt.'s have issued notifications making the licensing of these arms mandatory for specific areas or for the whole state (Haryana-1978,UP-1971,Rajasthan for Banswara-1982.....)from time to time.So please check if you are covered by any such notification or not.

Re: License for arms other than firearms
zipos are like collapsible batons also know as asp etc, life persveres i believe referring to baton and such like instruments. this type of weapons are known by different words, like asp, folding batons, saps, zaps etc
but then again its the arms act we are dealing with so who knows what they are referring to and since it was written in eons passed and in some funny languages which is not only outdated but vague. on the positive side it makes an interesting reading.
