Thanks RP and Naga for your valuable input!!! My primary reason for choosing this revolver is that its a workhorse designed for .357 Magnum and in .327, it can chamber IOF .32 revolver rounds too!
Since I can't buy .32 rounds on my .327 revolver license, is it possible to get my license endorsed for locally available .32 IOF rounds too?
Ruger SP101 in .327 can chamber .32 S&W, .32 S&W Long, .32 H&R Magnum and .327 Federal Magnum cartridges.
Best,
Ram

Re: Transfer OF Residence
Following link contains procedure to export firearms and ammunition from the US for nonimmigrant aliens: http://www.atf.gov/pub/fire-explo_pub/p5300_18.pdf
According to ATF, nonimmigrants must use a FFL registered with the Department of State, Office of Defense Trade Controls to export firearms and ammunition. The FFL must obtain an export license before exporting, which might take 4-8 weeks (sometimes longer). They recommend that you provide the FFL with a letter from your embassy on embassy letterhead explaining why you want to export the firearm. You also should provide an import authorization issued by the competent Government office in your country.
You can instruct the FFL to ship it by priority mail with insurance. Instruct him to ship the package ONLY AFTER you tell him, so that you are in India to collect it. The procedure hasn't changed much from what Anand described here: http://www.indiansforguns.com/viewtopic ... 219#p58219 .
