Need Help With Surrendering Rifle After the Licensee's Demise

Post by Pizzainhole » Tue Dec 31, 2024 4:59 pm

Hi all, this is urgent.
My grandfather passed away in 2014, and he owned a rifle with a license. The police have visited us twice in the last two months, but we haven’t gone to the police station because we don’t have the license documents. We were aware that my grandfather had lost the documents while he was alive. However, after he passed away, we didn’t surrender the rifle to the police due to the missing documents.

Hi,

Since it was your grandfather's and he has passed away, tell the police that you don't know where his license is and surrender the rifle. Let them record that the deceased lost the license or whatever. Why keep struggling with the issue needlessly? If need be talk to a lawyer and get his advice on the matter.
To ride, to speak up, to shoot straight.

Get licensing details from your district arms branch or write an application to your ADM/ DM to provide you copy of arms license so that you can deposit the rifle. Keeping the rifle with you from past ten years is a big mistake.

Which city is this?
"A gun is a tool, Marian. No better, no worse than any other tool. An axe, a shovel, or anything. A gun is as good or as bad as the man using it."
