Bringing Hatsan .177 airrifle from Turkey

My brother is planning to bring a Hatsan .177 calibre air rifle (without scope) from Turkey next week , the gun will be carried in the luggage .Will the customs officials in India ask for Rifle association membership once he land here ? Can someone tell me the legal aspects , things to follow .Thanks
