Buying Firearm outside your city of residence.

Post by Safarigent » Sun Aug 04, 2013 5:26 am

Hi guys,
I am looking to buy a pistol from an arms dealer in Calcutta. Trying to figure out if i need an NOC from the Delhi Police to travel back with the pistol from Calcutta to Delhi? I know that had the seller been an individual arms licensee i would have needed an NOC but no idea about when i am buying it from an arms dealer. I have an all india license.

Thanks in advance.

Safarigent,

When I picked up my pistol from Kanpur, I submitted the following

a) Letter from Dealer showing intent to sell weapon to me. (On Dealer's letterhead with type of weapon)
b) Application on plain paper asking for NOC to bring weapon back to Delhi
c) Dates that you plan to travel with the weapon
d) Transport License from the place that you purchased the weapon
e) Valid license of dealer

Sorry, scratch that. Since you have an All India License, you will not need to obtain a permission from the Delhi Police. Just an entry on your license and a receipt from the Arms Dealer should be sufficient.

Regards

For all India permit license you don't need NOC to travel back, I have all India permit license bought my pistol from Kolkata itself no hassles even took the flight showing the sale paper of pistol, the license and the weapon no problems at all.

I purchased my weapon from Kanpur and my license was for Delhi only. So I had to take an NOC from Delhi Police and get a TL from the DM in Kanpur...

Dear Safarigent,

Good to know that you have got an All India License from LA Delhi.

What was the procedure & how long it took also what documentation you were asked for.

Thanks
