yeah, i realised it and it is a big lesson for me - we should be very polite and use words like sorry , please let me go , etc. even there is no mistake on our side.hamiclar01 wrote:I couldn't agree more. Your biggest crime was bruising the policeman's ego. You answered back, ('firmly'), he gets angry, then he realises he hasn't a leg to stand on as far as legal procedures go....so he decides to 'teach you a lesson'. This is probably why he disregarded his superiors and was reluctant in releasing you.Kumarnishith wrote: You start to argue with the SI to the point that he gets angry/humiliated -------> SI gets pissed off & put you guys behind the bar
I don't think this will drag on further. But please consider this a learning exercise. It is pointless to argue sternly with policemen, custom officials, inspection clerks and the myriad of babus this world employs. A level head, a smile, and a pretence at being eager to massage his ego will go a long way. Avoid confrontations. As you have already realised, when rubbed the wrong way, the police can make your life a misery.

Read some of the older posts about gun safety and you will come across this gem, Do Not Go to Stupid Places with Stupid People to do Stupid Things.
Also, arguing with an SI is not a crime, but you also need to see this from the policeman's point of view.
a. Your friends and you were reported to be in possession of firearms and behaving in a suspicion manner. What you were doing spooked someone in the area. Read Section 20 of the Arms Act and be more aware of your surrounding in the future.
b. The policemen notice your friend with you and suddenly the complaint seems plausible to them.
c. You fail to be extremely cooperative.
Keep in mind, just a. & b. above were reason enough for the police to be ticked off with you, c. probably didn't help.
I'm not saying what the policeman did was wrong or right, I just feel that he had compelling reasons to behave in the manner in which he behaved and you failed to appreciate the situation and adapt accordingly.
That being said, retain a lawyer ASAP and send a representation to the police station. They can book you under some pretty serious sections and you should be proactive and not reactive...

Get a lawyer to send them a letter with your side story. All the facts of the case should be mentioned in this letter, have it sent to the SHO, SP, SSP, etc...tejareddy183 wrote:i didnt understand what u meant by send a representation to the police station.

I am sure you will ignore this advice...but I will give it nevertheless.
Try to get over what happened.Do nothing unless you want more trouble.IF the SHO continues to trouble you then take the next step. In future try to deal with people in authority with a smile and a bit of humour.

I'd go with what Winnie advised. Since you have utras in your state don't mess with authorities. Let sleeping dogs lie.

Yeah...Listen to GBM, WTP & Dev..Just let it go...You have got a bright future ahead..PG enterance perperation requires lots of time and hard work..Not to mention peace of mind..Don't let this "one off" incident affect you..take this as a life's lesson and move on! No point in carrying it forward...Remember no charges has been booked on you as yet by the SI..Why unnecessarily poke him and give him a reason to take revenge...I know your ego has been bruised...you must be shaken..But just let it go and move on!! You are in a very noble profession..Be proud of it and work hard to achieve your goals!
